Last night i saw something bobbing up and down in my tank. It was tiny and at first I thought it was sand that got blown into the water column but the action it displayed caught my eye. It was the size of a pinhead and was bobbing up and down in the same motion that a jellyfish does. It even looked like a jelly but without tentacles...just like an umbrella without handles. Anyhow I watched it bob around until my PH blew it behind some rocks and I lost sight of it. Also my clown took a few looks at it and I thought she would try to eat it but she would stop short of eating it every time.

Is it possible for a tiny jelly to be in my tank? Is there a type of pod that looks/acts like a jelly? :noidea:

And before you ask for pics, I would need a microscope to get a clear picture that didn't just look like a sugar sized grain of sand. If I see it again I'll get video and post it.

Sadly not yet. I'm most attracted to the ones that are hard to keep...but a topic for another thread.

Haven't seen the mystery fauna again yet.

Just curious about the wrasse. Some wrasses form a cacoon when they sleep at night and you may find it floating around the tank the next day. Looks just like a jelly fish blob.

Yes it is very possible. Additionally, some larval forms of inverts may look like tiny jellyfish when they are in earlier stages of life.

Have you recently added fresh live rock to your tank?

This thing definitely looked and acted like a jelly. It was definitely consciously swimming around.

No new rock in the tank. Only new additions have been corals. All dipped in Revive for at least 10 mins.
