Well I was pretty worried after adding the prazipro last night, but as of this morning everything's looking great, nothing seems stressed at all.

Also in the QT the Powder Browns still breathing heavily so I'm thinking the ich is what's caused this so I've decided to go ahead and add the 4th dose of cupramine. I also added an air stone since I'm also worried about cupramine causing the oxygen levels to go down and I don't have much surface agitation.

If you get the Powder Brown to start eating again. I'd suggest feeding it Nori daily. After a bad run with Powder Blues I got advice from someone that Nori seemed to really help his PBT adjust to tank life and get really healthy. So I bought one, fed Nori daily even when I QT'd it and have had a really healthy PBT ever since. Even survived a temperature crash that just about killed everything else in my tank. Only my Borbonious and the PBT survived. And after the crash I fed him Nori diet again and his color and energy popped back up. It's super food for them.

Good idea ill try tossing some of that in the QT. Hopefully he'll start eating he's not looking so hot. He's staying vertical but keeps his lower jaw on the bottom of the tank most the time.

Well sad news, unfortunately the Powder Brown didn't make it. Looking back now I knew he had ich from the day he got here because of all the scratching he was doing. I should have started the cupramine first and done the prazipro after. The foxface and royal gramma are doing fine. They'll be in the cupramine for a minimum of 3 more weeks and afterwards ill go ahead and try another powder brown. This time starting with the cupramine.

Hello, I didn't see your thread before but nice clowns. sorry to hear about your powder brown. how long after adding the fish in QT do you start medicating? i've had better luck not adding any medications for at least two weeks and just getting him to eat regularly.

He was in there for over a week before starting medication. But he was eating so well I decided to start the prazipro treatment. But he was scratching himself from day one. So that's what's making me think I should have started him on the cupramine first. I do like to let the fish settle in and as long as there eating like pigs I start the treatment.

Don't give up. There's a Powder Brown out there waiting for you. BTW, I know everyone has their preferences but I've done both cupramine and prazipro at the same time with no ill effects. When I started researching how people QT and treat fish I've read that they don't affect each other. Didn't notice any added stress on the fish and just to play safe maybe throw cupramine on the first day and let the fish adjust and prazipro the second. Just throwing it out there if you didn't try them together yet.

One more thing. Not sure if you did this for the powder brown. I was taught that they are very sensitive to acclimation to new tank/water from a shopkeeper. What I did with my successful Powder blue was let the QT tank water drip in the bag for 2-3 hours while scooping a little bag water out. The unsuccessful ones before I wasn't so careful and they looked good for a few weeks then die quickly out of nowhere. Maybe this technique reduces their stress and prevents the break out of ich before treatment.

So slow drip acclimation and Nori diet

Good luck on the next one. Powder Blues and Powder Browns are the prettiest tangs IMO too bad they're the finnickiest

All great advise thank you. Yea I think next time I'm gonna run them together after he's eating we'll. I did drip acclimate him but only over a period of a half hour. Next time ill take a lot longer.

Yea powder browns and blues are awesome. Hopefully I can get the next one to make it through quarentine.

In other news I made my first trip out to Reef Raft and I have to say that store is the best I've been in by far. Picked up a few frags, ill post some pics tommorow when my lights are back on.
