KZ Fiji Purple High Output T5 Lamps ???

I was thinking about adding one of these to my 24" 4 bulb setup. I'm not sure if adding one will decrease my light output and make my corals suffer, or what bulb i should replace, one of the white or blue? I am interested in trying one of these out but not sure if its a good idea with only the 4 bulbs t5 setup.

Any thoughts would be great, Thanks

I had a 4 bulb 24" fixture with 2 ati blue+ 1 Fiji purple, and 1 aqua blue special.

I loved the color, I was able to grow some sps too.

I say you get it.

Do this...

back
ATI Blue +
ATI aquablue or GE 6500K Day(personal preference, I like the GE better)
ATI Purple + (same as KZ fiji purple, but a little less expensive)
ATI Blue +
front

I think this would give you a nice looking color. btw, the purple plus(fiji purple) has a decent amount of par, your corals will be fine. :)

good luck, Mike

i'm forever gonna use...

ati blue+
ati purple+ or kz fijipurple (whatever's cheaper)
ati blue+
ati purple+ or KZ...

but i'd be careful when adding a purple bulb... they have a LOT of par, and will burn or beat up some LPS like acans and some chalices... but after they get used to it, the growth under that light is amazing... everything grows... reds, orange, pink, and other colors you never seen before in your tank pop...

good luck...

oh, and get them at reefgeek... or age of aquariums...

+1 on this set up. I have Fiji purple and its way different than other purples. I've tried ati, geisemann, and Hamilton, and the Fiji brings out a ton more reds and yellows. My flame wrasses and red hornets pop like crazyyyyy. Chad special ordered me one at coral gazers. I haven't seen any lfs stock them. Seriously though u will be impressed ...

I didn't realize until after reading your comments here...maybe that's why my chalices were browning out for a while with my Purple Plus? Now they're fine and looking good (took 2 months). Hmm...didn't consider the PAR reading on the purple bulbs. Thanks for the heads up G.

You don't have to special order them from Chad at Coral Gazers anymore either, he has all the sizes in-store. Only LFS that I know of who carries them.

par readings are incredible on that bulb... the only bulb with higher par is some 10,000K bulb that KZ makes too... but no one uses it... LOL...

but i like to raise the fixture up a lot... especially if there's more than on KZ bulb in there... at least a foot off the water... srsly...

Funny Mike, I was at MAX, talking to one of the guys from Reefgeek.com, and he was saying the KZ fiji purple and ATI purple plus were the same bulb, made at the same factory. I also have both in my 8 bulb ATI setup, and dont see a difference. Just my observations tho.

+1...

i have tried KZFP, purple+, and coral wave and there is no visible difference between the KZ and ATI... the coral wave is almost as good, but doesn't have a lot of par or life span...

Hey Gumbii why do you raise the fixture that high? Is it a too much PAR/bleaching issue, or the colors mix/spread better at that height kinda thing?

Just curioso..

after talking to ali about it, we discovered that that's the only solution to bleaching acans with T5's... especially after getting the purple bulbs... i dunno if you've ever been to his shop, but he has his fixtures up pretty high... looks cool, but it sucks when the light is blinding you when you're trying to watch TV in the living room... LOL...

and the colors are a lot nicer... you don't see blue shaded areas like you always do with T5's...

I felt that having the KZ Figi pup bulb on my 4x24 TEK fixture added too much purple. That is just my tastes though. I like more blue.
