Hey does anybody know any LFS's in Riverside worth visiting? That cater to reefers? I went by The Mystic Reef the other day and was pretty impressed. Nice displays, friendly staff and great customer service.

Since I just moved to Riverside I'm trying to hit all the LFS's in the city before I start making trips a little farther away (Inland Empire)...just trying to be methodical.

Thanks!

+1 for Mystic Reef. If you don't mind driving just outside the IE border... then there's Fish Collection in Yorba Linda...Coral Island and Amazing Aquariums in Orange.

+1 on tropical reef..Jason has a nice new clean store..and he takes care of his stuff...also he has a good fish selection with some good corals and his pricing is very reasonable

Not trying to BASH on Mystic Reef cuz i have bought some stuff from them and they can be real nice guys..HOWEVER u have to watch them on pricing...anybody that has shopped there will agree with me...they do this wierd thing where they write EXTREME high prices and whenever a customer walks thru the door they tell u theres a sale and lower the price, but the price is still higher than average...when i was a noob i one time paid $30 for 2 headed frogspawn..most places charge max $10 a head...but the original price was like $50 or something outrageous...so i thought i was getting a good deal..plus one time i paid like $35 for a scopas tang and that was WAYYY too high and i havent been back since..

if u go to Jason (tropical Reef) all his prices are there and if he discounts the price its legit discount..

as far as aquarium in motion goes...they have almost 0 fish selection and expect to bother the owner when ur there if u have any questions..that was my experience at least.....(thats just the owner..he has a guy that works there that is super chill, but i think he only works on sundays) ..he has some decent coral but his prices are pretty average-high..and he doesnt really work with u much..again maybe this isnt the same for everyone but thats how it was when i was there...also they are in the process of moving so dont drive down there cuz u will find an empty shop

if u want to drive i def would recommend COral Gazers Chad is a very nice guy, they have a very nice fish selection and an AWESOME coral selection plus dry goods..and theyre prices are very fair...
good luck bro

i think that as far as it goes with stores and there staff, it kinda depends on the day, not everyone is going to be all hugs and kisses all the time. and i know that if your a first timer to a store they should be friendly but don't expect them to be your best friend the first day your there. i have been to all the LFS talked about here and the more you go and they more they know your face the better things get for your shopping list/wallet. its loyalty credits

That is totally true. I agree chris. I have been to all but Jasons and the more they know you the more they are willing to help you out. Good point Chris.
