If you drill a tank, how do you setup the plumbing? Where should you drill the holes and at what level?

For the past few week I was trying to add a sump to my tank, but it must be very quiet in the overflow and sump. I had a test tank in my garage and tired so many overflow drain methods. Dorsal and stockman were a pain to tune and still noisy at the sump. Herbie was super quiet, so I went with that. My final design was to use the CPR overflow box and add an additional drain hole on the side of the box for the "emergency drain" according to the Herbie design. The main CPR drain is a full siphon regulated by a gate valve.

My entire setup is super quiet that the loudest thing is mostly the aqualifter pump.

Side view looking at my modification to the CPR overflow box. You can also see the gate valve in red. Btw, OSH stocks the gate valve.

My tank is drilled, with 3 holes. One drain and two returns that meet in a y. The returns are a little higher than my overflow, which was a pita until i put a check valve in. If i did it again, i would have kept them higher, but just a half inch or so above the overflow. Its still good tho. I really am glad that i drilled it. It looks way better than when it ha all the HOB stuff on it.
