My Aunt picked up a plate sized elephant sponge
A few weeks ago. It has started to get brown spots and
Is getting thin in those spots. Anyone know what may
Be causing this?
Sponges are usually very hardy.
I have some in my nano that is growing off the hook.

El Dude is right, that coral doesn't like air touching it at all ultra sensitive to it. same goes for Tiger sponge.

A picture is gonna aid people in seeing exactly what's going on. Start with that in a thread and guarantee you get more help or at least a "happy Sunday."

Probably got air into that part of the sponge. I would cut out the necrotic spots and hope they grow back. Sorry bro...
+ 1 on the air. Air traps up in sponges and will start dying off in those areas. Starts to look like the rotting part of an apple with a hole in the middle
