:rock:I started SW last summer and now am totally addicted now... I've been scuba diving for over 35 years, and loved reefs, but with a job wife and kids, and everyone telling me how much effort a Saltwater tank takes... I never never tried it... Well Kids are no longer home... and my wife told me I should go and find a hobby.... Well.... good thing I waited, because Im now consumed...

Started here with a RSM 130D brand new off the internet..

After a few months I made it to here and wanted more...

So I bought a 120...

Wanted to add a foam back wall...

In goes the water:

Plumbing.. Added an ATS, along with Skimmer and Refug...

Live rock and decided to go with LEDs

A little time and additions and here it is....

One Idea Im really liking is I drilled holes in the foam to allow for Frag plugs. Now I can fill, adjust, change the back wall by simply moving frag plugs...

Since I first started it up, I've also added a frag tank... 18x18x12. I plumbed it into my sump using a mp1200. It has a koralia nano powerhead inside hooked up to my one of my wavemaker circuits...

Foam is called "Touch'n Foam Landscape Exterior Filler Adhesive". I used 3.5 cans to cover my back wall... 4'x2' It was supposed to be available at the major Hardware stores, but I couldn't find it at Home Depot so I ordered 5 cans online... If I recall around $6-7 per can plus shipping...

Here's a link to the product

I just sprayed the foam all over the back wall (with tank lying on the back wall) tried to mostly cover everything. The foam expanded and formed a solid wall... After about 30 minutes I sprinkled black sand and multi colored pebbles... I tried to make the holes after a couple hours but found it was best to let it cure over night and then just use a 7/16" drill bit and drilled numerous holes... I can still go and drill holes using only my hand and same bit...

just showed my wife while I was at lunch, who is really picky, and she really liked this. Any pointers for my tank(working on building the stand now) Also black sand needed? My wife wants to put something reflective in the back, suggestions? BTW referring to the back foam, also where did you get this idea from?

G3 skimmer... and an ATS and refug..... so I turn off the skimmer at times...

For the foam wall I saw some other posts on various reef sites... don't remember exactly which ones.. and just went for it... But did get the Brand of foam from the posts.

As for the holes... that was my idea... and Sand... I also picked black (anyone else can pick whatever you like).. I figured real rock might provide a better hold for coral to adhere to... so I tried to sprinkle sand and pebbles all over... Might also be better for algae... but hey got to go positive right....
