Update RAP Edition!

These guys have been in a breeder box with the anemones since Saturday. I'm waiting for them to get all touchy feely with the anemones before I cut them loose. The anemones are also from RAP. Got them both for $40. They have green around the mouth and red bulbous tips. I also got the cerameco bowls that the nems are in at RAP too. This way I can make an island and not have them wander.

Plate coral from Crystal & Bogdan. I got these and some really bright radioactive dragon eyes. They gave me the Zoas and a better deal than asking on the plate…always so generous. The plate is the size of a quarter and actually has some red at the base of its tentacles. Awesome piece!

And I also got a really beautiful clam. iPhone pic. Basically the clam is a slightly lighter color than in the pic but obviously the sand is white. A really beautiful clam. Adrock (Robert) at Chance Of Coral hooked it up.

Also added but no pics:
Orchid Dottyback
Red Dragon (Cy hooked it up for a beer...never underestimate the power of a well timed IPA)
Gold Torch
I think that's it.

Still not hosting... They've been in a container with the anemones since Saturday and these dummies still won't host. I'm getting all kinds of heat from the wife to let them free but if they don't host they don't go free. And if they never host I'll sell the anemones.

New clam is happy. The only way to get a decent pic was to include the candy canes for white balance.

Tank raised clowns take a long time to host, some are quicker but I would let them lose and keep a nem till they decide to host

Will do.

Nah son! Host or be prisoners...a clown that won't host a nem is a flushable clown. If I could waterboard them I would...
J/K...I think they're close.

Waiting for mine to host also! Such a pain ...
F'real! I'm going to tape pics of clowns hosting anemones next to their container. This worked for me with other clowns previously. The idea is that they become a bit more territorial and claim the nems as their own before the "other" clowns decide to take them. We'll see...

I did this with mine, it worked on the second day I believe. but I left them for an extra day to make it stick! Maybe try the flashlight trick? After lights out , stand a small flashlight ontop of the glass top ( if you have one, if not go MacGyver on it.. ) they are said to wanna be in the beam of light .. worth a shot :)Do you have other clowns hosting? I had a pair that couldn't care less.. until they saw another pair hoarding their nem.. then it was game ON!.. even with 7 nems in tank they had to fight it out for that ONE unlucky Nem.. lol

i'll show you the wonders of a Gray Card next time i'm over. I keep one in my wallet.. :p

i guess i should count my blessings, my clown immediately hosted the RBTA.. they're basically inseparable. in fact, the clown gets all pissed and swims around pissing off other stuff when the anemone closes up to poop, and keeps going back to nudge it til it opens back up..

Omar, try this out..works like a charm.

Get your two fingers (index and middle) and nuzzle them in the anemone...when the clowns come close to inspect further, flip them off and flick them away. The idea is that they will want to overtake your fingers and once you remove your hand from the tank, they will feel victorious swooping on the nem.

don't know if that will work as i just made it up but it sure as hell will be funny seeing a grown man giving his fish the bird and nuzzling his fingers in an anemone's tentacles. lmao

Oooh...a new method. No other clowns but putting the pics on the glass facing in is the same idea. Get them jealous of the sweet homes the "other clowns" have and then they'll adopt the beautiful ones I've provided...we'll see.

Ah, yes, the grey card. We have one but like I said, the wife holds out on me when it comes to photography tactics.

BWAAAAHAHAHAAAHAAA...Just imagine what my wife would be thinking when she sees me fingering the nems! She's gonna think I've lost it and am swinging with clowns, lmao!

Another thing that works is use a white peace of paper and white balance off that. Grey cards are nice but not a luxury everyone has laying around. On thing I've been playing with is incorporating my strobes from my studio to see if bringing a little more light in help. Sometimes it does sometimes it does not.

Here is a shot I took under those T5's I picked up from you. I'm using the same white balance I use in the studio on my DSLR and it's coming out nice with a tiny color correction on the raw.

If you want I can swing by sometime and help you with it.

Yeah Mike, whenever. You know you gotta deal with the dog and two crazy kids but if you don't mind you're welcome. We should do it when the wife is home so she can pick your brain too. Maybe even get Jeff over to maximize the photo-geekery.

Got the ATO reservoir in place. I had limited space and it fit like a glove.

I am so happy with this thing and best of all, my wife loves it. Lol!
