Just found the skeleton to my coral banded shrimp on my sand bed! What does this mean? Is it bad? Is he gonna die? He is still alive right now and seems to be actin quite normal... I believe the reason might be that my light keeps turning off because there is a bad connection in my ballast (I'm getting it fixed tomorrow) but I have to keep turning the light back on for my sps so this might be causing stress??? This is my first shrimp so I would very much like to know what's goin on. And by the way my temp hasn't really been changing drastically today it maybe went down two degrees because of my light issue but that's it.

Shrimp and many crabs molt. As they get bigger there outer shell does not grow like skin, it stays the same size even though the actual shrimp grows. So in order to grow they need to shed the old skin (Which is made out of chitin, which is the same thing as our fingernails) and it then grows another one. It will be the exact same shape as the shrimp and usually even the same color. If your shrimp molts it is usually a good thing that your water quality is pretty good. This doesn't mean don't test your water, but it is definitely an indication that your on the right track.
