i had this problem b4 but really didnt think much of it b4 my move, but now the skimmer isnt working right at all. it keep over filling because its in to mch water. i know i can raise it but when i got my stand made they didnt make it right, and i didnt notice it till it was to late. so i wanted to see if there anything i can do to lower the water leave in my first chamber? the only other thing i was thinking of doing was getting a external skimmer. theres no room what so ever under my tank to raise the skimmer. right now its in 10 inches of water.

Thank you

I wouldn't do this but you could always drill a hole in the baffle of the chamber. I would get a new skimmer stand or use egg crate to raise it up.

changing the stand seems to not be a solution since your tank is already wet, so if you cannot put it your skimmer on a stand then it sounds like you will have to modify you sump or maybe see if you can get a customer skimmer cup made shorter so that you can raise the skimmer.

I'll post some tonight.

one thing I was thinking of doing is placing 4x4 under my tank to raise it, and I would run plywoodl across the tank for equal distribution of weight on to the 4x4. what do you guys think.

I think the xp5000 works best in 7" of water. I had my xp3000 in 6".

If u have a 3 chamber sump, ur gunna need to modify the baffle in the 1st and 2nd chamber. U can't lower the water level in the first chamber if the water in the second chamber is higher. U can get a BIG drill bit, and drill a bunch of holes just under where the water level is.
