Pls help!! Do they need sand to burrow? LA says so but I've also heard from others that say they don't need sand and don't burrow. Let me know. Thanks.

QT is bare bottom. But I can get a plastic bin and put sand in it if they absolutely need it. Just didn't think they would need it like jawfish or sand goby.

Oh ok well I was going to suggest the container with sand but seems you already knew that 1:) I don't think sand is absolutely needed.

I didn't think so either. Never once saw a tilefish spitting out sand like jawfish or watchman goby. But LA says it on their site so I will play it safe and put sand it a bin. Got two skunk tilefish for $20 each at max today. Pretty stoked.

Yea that sounds pretty kool. I also see them for sale all the time with no sand in the tank. So I don't think it's an absolute must.
