I bought some frags the other day at the show in NOLA and the guy bagged 3 different species of acro AND a chalice together in the same ZIPLOC bag! I pre-ordered/prepaid him on the forum so they were all packed up when he gave them to me and I didn't get to see them. With the great flood, and all the vendors trying to get packed up and everything, he just put them in my styrofoam box and left them for me. I was also picking up some frags for a few other peeps that live far and didn't get to go. When I got home and was taking them out, I realized what he had done and couldn't believe it! The Red Planet was in bad shape with skin peeling off like crazy and the Bonsai was already white in some spots. The other unidentified acro was/is very browned out but has good PE. Even if they were healthy, I was shocked at the size for what I paid. I haven't said anything to him but feel that I should so he doesn't think this is an ok practice and do it to someone else. But I don't know what the best way to approach the issue would be. What do you guys think?

This guy either DGAFed it or he's a noob, there's no reason for him not to spend an extra 2 mins or 20 cents for more bags to separate the frags.

Yes, corals that slime like sps should not be touching each other. Slime is a means of defense whether from exposure to air or contact to foreign things.

Call/email/text his *** and tell him what happened. He'll either refund full/partial or replace frags. If not, blast him on the forum.

PS I haven't forgotten about y'all in LA.. Just resigned from my full time job of 6 years and finishing off my last week there...

I wouldn't blast but I would write him a long email or text the moment you opened the bag.

When buying Sps almost everyone replaces if delivered in "dying condition" unless stated that he wouldn't on the sale. Your "legit" window is closing by each minute you don't speak up.

Chalice and Acropora in the same bag is just straight retarded. That's why Wally said he must be a newb

I would say something right away. That's a big no no. If he's keeping and selling SPS he's probably been in the hobby and should have known better. How small were the frags?

Ok so I took some pics and realized one of the 3 is a birdsnest. It's the one that has barely any skin left and the polyps weren't out and skin was peeling off so bad I couldn't tell what it was. I have been so busy with work I haven't had time to hardly even look in my tank! But regardless... they were all in the bag together with a chalice Frag and are not in great shape. I haven't said anything to the guy yet cuz my business image with these folks is important and I don't want to risk hurting that. But I just feel I need to find a good way to say something to him so he doesn't do this to other people and think it's ok.

Red Planet??? (I paid him for a Red Planet, Bonsai, and chalice... I know which one the Bonsai and chalice are... the other 2 are unidentifiable at this point)

It's less than a 1/2" tall

Bonsai
Encrusted but branch is less than 1/4" tall

Birdsnest??? (this was a lagniappe)

Someone in LA in general or a specific someone? I think the better wording here is "I'm wishing I would've bought from someone in Los Angeles"
But this was an impulse buy that I was wishing I hadn't made even before I got the frags. I had made the decision a while ago not to buy any more coral till I get my 240 finished and transferred over. But I saw this guy post them for sale and that he'd be bringing them to the show. I knew I probably wouldn't get a chance to walk around and look at anything since I had to work and I couldn't stand the idea of leaving a frag swap empty handed so I PayPal'd him the funds to hold them. The pics he posted of his mother colonies looked great. I know he's not a noob. But I feel like one now.
Stupid addiction! :banghead:
He definitely ripped you off. 1/4 inch is nothing
Definition of booger frags. Lol
Ouch. I wouldn't even charge for frags like that. Definitely say something
I know! Me either! I've given frags away to strangers 4 times this size and much larger to friends.

Lol. Yeah I know. I wanted to say something right away but due to one crisis in my life after another and being overwhelmingly busy with work this week, especially up until last night, I just didn't get a chance to call him right away. At this point, I'm not even really hoping for anything, but I would like to let him know that this kind of practice is not ok. He seemed like a nice guy. I looked up his profile on our local forum and he's been a member since Oct 2010 so he had to have known better.

If he's on a forum then publicaly "thank him" for the "huge" frags
I'm not the kind of person that does something like that. I will either handle it privately or ignore it and never deal with him again. I prefer to just let him know in the nicest way possible and hope he will take it ok.

The window of time of doing almost anything was her taking pictures coming out of the bag or in the bag and phoning, texting, or emailing the person.

Yeah it was 2am when I got home and had to dip frags and get them in the tank. It was too late to call and I was too tired to care. Then the next morning I went to return my rental car and had a tire blow out on the way there which became an all day emotional ordeal. Hertz says I will be charged $300-500 for a new tire when they should be paying me for putting my safety at risk by giving me a vehicle with old tires that were in bad shape and needed to be replaced!!!
I want to sue them but Jamie says no lawyer will touch it cuz it's just small claims.

All this AFTER the monsoon that hit us during the outdoor show I did... pictures here:

AND on the 6 hr drive home from NOLA I was pulled over and given a ticket for going 77 in a 60 but I had just seen a sign for 70 and as soon as I pulled back on the highway after the d!ck cop gave me the ticket, I saw another sign for 70. I figured I could contest it by having them check the speed limit where I was pulled over but after looking at the ticket he gave me, there is nothing on it to show proof of where the ticket was given. ***There is a spot for latitude and longitude but it was left blank!:mad::mad:

Anyway... it was not a good weekend for me! :(

Lol... a$$ hole.
I do think I could use some therapy after last weekend on top of being stuck in LA.

Pics of the tire... it barely had any tread left on it, the rubber was very dried out and cracked like it had been sitting in a parking lot in Phoenix for an extended period of time, and it had a previous plug right near where the split started.
I just feel lucky that it didn't happen late at night somewhere in between my house and NOLA!
And grateful to have such good reef buddies that they will leave work to come change a tire for me!

Good tire for pic comparison with the same camera:
