Whats the most expensive part of YOUR tank? Coral and fish do not count since we all know how expensive they can get! If you have multiple tanks, select the biggest one.

It all depends.....could be the tank, skimmer, etc.

You can buy a cheap visio tank and Bubble King Skimmer.....then you see the skimmer is the most expensive or the other way around.

Id say filtration. A good skimmer is expensive and when you add things like a phos-reactor, overflow/wet-dry (for non-RR tanks) then it gets worse.

A really nice tank will be expensive, but it depends what what your trying to do with it. LR is expensive if you need to buy a lot at once from a LFS. Lighting can be done cheaply with retros. Testing isnt too bad and mainanence varies person to person -my magfloat was cheap ;) and Im lazy.

It looks like pmoradi2002 is asking what "your" ie (your own personal setup's) most expensive part is not in an overall new start to finish setup. For example if I set up a 300 gallon tank the LV would more then likely be the most expensive along with the tank it self. But if I setup a nano with MH, my lighting would be more then my LR. Just me two cents...

My tank is about 60 gallons. I made my own sump and I have retro fit PC I got from a friend for free. I would say my tank or LR was the most expensive in this setup.

For me the most expensive part of my tank is the filtration which was the protein skimmer.

But it all depends on what route you go with your tank. Some people will have a bubble king and everything else for equipment sucks. For me I tried to get a "well rounded" tank set up with not the best of everything but good equipment all around.

Wow. That's a low blow lol!Too funny! Anyways the thread seems pretty clear on what he's asking...."What's the most expensive part in YOUR tank?" Minus the coral and fish.....I guess he could say "what IS the most expensive part in your tank?" lol!! You really can't get anymore clearer than what he asked lol...anyways to answer your question pmoradi...for me it would have to be my chiller. I don't have a huge system or all the other gadgets n gizmos like others :)

hey Pmoradi, were you the one that was helping Sean at Hugo/Jose's frag swap/bbq? Did you buy a peppermint shrimp from some guy?
As for this thread, the most expensive thing I had to buy for my last tank was lighting.
Radium bulbs + Lumenmax elite reflectors + Gallaxy ballast = a small fortune
the colors I got out of my corals and fish = priceless. lol

I say the light its already expensive and specially if its a MH you change bulb once or twice a year and they are not cheap!!!
Dont forgety to add to it the electrictiy, particular to my tank you can nomrally ignore the amount of energy usage a good skimmer pump uses, like the sicce's or red dragons pumps. But you CANT ignore the additional costs that 750w and with actinics 910W will add to the overall cost.

I voted Lighting, even though the LR cost more still in the box. But after adding the cost the first month the lights are more, and just keep costing more.
