got my red sea 34g goin for about 6 month's now and I was bummed on not having the option to have actinics on by themselves..

so i went through the reef bin with all my old crap that has built up over the years and found an old Current fixture.

It happened to be the perfect size...but all i had to cut the inside of the hood with was this tiny 3" saw blade that would have took me hours to cut with so i ended up using a blowtorch and an exacto knife...surprisingly it made it extremely easy..just ran the flame over my cut lines for a few seconds and was able to cut the plastic like rubber. =)

Attached a few braces and was good to go. i didn't even need to take the hood off to do the project. now i just need new bulbs.

I'd love to throw some LED's in the hood some day..but this was a no cost..use yer old crap..kinda project..

I had to downsize unfortunately when I made my move down south...the red sea is actualy kinda nice being all contained...no fear of sumps overflowing or things going wrong.

i got a brand new 90g with built in overflows sitting in storage...
