LOL... ATAfish and strictly fish are so close, yet i hardly visit them... both of them aren't worth the gas in anyone's car to go visit them... even in a prius...

just sayinn...

although... for planted and freshwater fish strictly fish is teh bomb-diggity BRO!...
I definitely disagree they are so so knowledgable and I have always taken their advice over anyone elses and I have a great healthy tank. Sure they don't have a huge coral selection but they are the spot for fish and prices!

strictly fish one time sold my friend a blue mycedium chalice for 30 bucks because they thought it was a blue cup coral...

that said, they really don't know their stuff on reef or saltwater fish... they just know that they sell nice healthy fish... but as for advice and experience... no bueno...

but like i said, for the freshwater selection... well... when i was into breeding cichlids, there were one of the only places that i could order 20 packs of wild altoloprongus calvus in any color variety... i also got a bunch of synodontis petricolas and multipinctatus from them years before they were popular... although, i did pay a lot for them, it was better than paying for shipping from myles neiman's stock... but i did get a lot of stuff from him at that time as well...

but again... if it wasn't for me, they wouldn't have started carrying those cichlids before the lake tang craze hit...

but again... they can't keep an acro colored up... i've seen some pico tanks with more colored up SPS than theirs... LOL...

qu?...

Mike I think he means stores that don't treat it as "The customer is always right"...

Amirite Gumbii? ................

hahahahahahs;fjkaskl;fjasl;kdfjaskl;fjaskl;fjasl;kjaljasl;dfj

Sorry that wasn't funny just trying my best impression... I know not very good.
LOL...

in every good LFS that i keep going to, i am always right... i wouldn't want to be called a liar from someone that needs my business to survive... i have never been to an LFS that they went out of their way to prove me wrong... that's horrible costumer service... now if i ask for advice that's different... lead me to success please... i don't want their drama... thx...

well... let me say this... if you've been on a reef forum for more than a year, you hate strictly fish...

LOL...

they're expensive, they don't know enough about reef setups if their life depended on it, the only thing they're good for is when they have a sale and you have to have this exotic butterflyfish that isn't even reef safe... other than that, i rather make a left off the freeway and hit carson tropical fish and have a decent reef related conversation with someone knowledgeable... do a search for them here and reef central and see what some members really think about that store...

HAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAA... that was one crazy unexpected conversation that i wish i didn't have...

Opinions are what make each of us unique and may serve to spur knowledgable debate on such topics. I for one value gumbiis opinions on these boards no matter how eratic his posts are.

well I'm still disagreeing I have a reef tank and like I said they are super helpful They ARENT expensve at all (they have the best prices I've seen on livestock and the most healthy) and they DO know their stuff... If they didn't wouldn't I have a failure of a tank? Cuz my tank is primo and has been the whole time. Maybe you should take the time and ask for the employee that knows reefs??? Did that ever occur to you? All of their employees have their niche and different areas of expertise so don't hate.

I respect his opinions as well but I also think he should respect mine which he fails to show in his discussions. It's his way or the highway and when it comes to lfs preference there's really no right or wrong answer... I'm only presenting the facts and proving him wrong. You are rIght though but it would be nice to see some mutual respect for my opinions.

gumbii, I agree that the customer is always right but if you are a LFS and someone was straight up bashing you, you wouldn't stand up for yourself?! Come on. If reputation is what you are talking about then why let someone crush your stores reputation by saying you have terrible stuff? I would definitely go out of my way to tell the true story and save reputation.

i guess... but that was not my experience... i was looking for radium bulbs and they couldn't get them, the ones they had were over 100 bucks for a bulb... like i said, that was all my experience... if you're into planted freshwater tanks, or cichlids, i'll send you to that place...

you don't see a club like SCMAS or SCRK stampeding to that place... they might be good enough for you, but not for me... well, not anymore... i do, love their shirts though... pretty awesome...

i do respect yours... i just put up my experience about strictly fish and ATAfish, and never said you're wrong... unless you drive a prius, i don't know why you're so upset over this... they are simply, not worth my gasoline...

/end

i would rather visit a store that had a crazy customer bashing them, than the store's owner bashing on a customer...

for instance... i see people bashing on ALI's store all of the time...

now... if i hear that someone was at ali's store and he was yelling at him and telling him to GTFO wile other costumers are all scared, and that guy's girlfriend is yelling at the shop owner to stop yelling and to leave him alone...

what sounds better...?

would you want to go to a shop like that...?

edit: btw, ali would never yell at any of his custies... he remember's everyone's names, tanks and everything about the person... treats everyone amazingly, and i think he has one of the best costumer service at an LFS around... just that his store gets full of people sometimes, and it's only him... but he has couches and reading material... so it's not that bad... and you can mingle with the other peeps...

anyways... the little story about the yelling and junk did happen... i just wish that person that got yelled at spoke up...

1. age of aquariums , carson tropical fish
age of aquariums has the best customer service hands down. This store is big league.
Carson Tropical fish has helped me out when i ran into big problems. they took care of my live stock once, and they kept the store open waiting for me when one of my tanks broke. Tom is a super cool dude that has crazy low prizes on collector frags. I always run into other collectors in this store.

2. bell bird farm. joe has great prices on fish. and on aussie corals. he keeps getting better.

3. amazing aquariums and reefs Ali has the best and nicest lps. his store is amazing.

4. oc aquatic was a good one too. just found out a few days ago they were closing down. thats sad. i bought my ppe's and jokers zoas there back in the day.

5. fish collection was one of my favorite stores. they have really nice wellsos and scolimias. but this was before he became a super star and came out with the utter chaos. after that all of his prices went up, and he is now way to expensive for a poor dude like me. lol. great store for ballerz.

did that shop owner just not like the person and yelled at them for no reason? or did the person come in and want something, not understanding the whole mix up? then telling the shop owner they were lying? i would prob get mad if someone questioned my integrity too... no matter who was in the store. i wish someone who was behind the whole mix up would speak up about the miscommunication too. but you know each side is gonna sugar coat it in some way to make the other side look worse. no one will really know the whole true story...

and yeah Ali is a great guy.i couldnt ever seen him getting mad. hes really personable. nice store set up too...

What's the name of the store that yelled at it's customers? AND...who told you that story? I am sure they are on Socalireefs maybe we can ask them directly what happened. I am sure everyone wants to know the name of the store, so they don't get yelled at! :proud:
