whats the best alk test kit in your opinion

After using the Red Sea test kit I wouldn't use anything else. There's nothing more accurate than self-performed tritiation... It's very easy, don't tell yourself it's too much chemistry lol... The whole 15 seconds, and the wait times are exaggerated. For alkalinity, you simply have 10mL of...

    Algae and phosphate?

A blackout wouldn't do anything to remove the actual food source of the problem. All it'ss do is annoy your corals. Consider a sand vacuum and large water change of sump/filter. Increase water flow. Check out the algae program by Red Sea for a natural method of exporting nutrients responsible...

    Alk won't go over 5.5

What's your test kit for alk? Are you using tritatiom? What type of corals do you have? Have you done anything other than a water change to raise your levels? Do a bigger water change

My unfortunate experience with convict tangs

Seaweed Diet is mandatory, and ample space with a randomized flow pattern.

Can you feed fish too much?

It's a FOWLR. How much are you even feeding? And what are you feeding. If you're just constantly keeping the seaweed clipped on the glass that's fine. If you just toss in a pinch of pellets 5-8 times a day that is also fine.. Spiralina Brine is great for tangs. It all depends what you're...

brand new sump and reefcrystal bucket

I have worked with the Plug N Play SC Aquarium tanks. This sump is part of those system, and it is rimless glass. I personally really like the simple design. A drain area, next to skimmer with baffles into the refugium into the big return pump section.

    R-NEL - Great Reefer

Hey that second picture of the monti. Is it spongodes? I have a mother colony and 4 frags of it and I can't figure out exactly what species it is because of the one light colored polyp vs the others. It's clearly branching Nice frags!!

    What is my monti doing?

How long have you had it? What did you do with the Jebao? Is this coral getting too blasted now? It is SPS but sometimes they can get too much at once

Help me chose a wave maker

If you went with Jebao I'd have to recommend going for the RW series, specifically the RW-4 for your size aquarium. The reason for this is you're able to hook up battery back up to the RW controller. Speaking as an owner of both the WP and RW pumps, the RW series is much more sleek, refined and...
