From the looks of some I bought for a FW tank it almost looks like the color temp of the bulb is being altered by painting the inside of the tube and not by using different phosphors. SteveU

IMO, a lot will also depend on the bulb quality and even each individual bulb. I'm sure some of the cheaper bulbs won't have the same usable life.
