Have you considered mounting it vertically? It looks like there might be enough space behind the tank. It would reduce spillage when changing bulbs.

Going behind the scenes at large public aquariums is super cool. I'm lucky I get to spend 4 nights a week behind the scenes at The Aquarium of the Pacific. The Georgia Aquarium is on my list of places to go, its one of the best in the world.

I am thinking about painting the top of the stand. The tank is going to be bare bottom, so I will be looking at the bare wood. I thought about black, but not sure if that will make the tank to dark. Would love some feed back.

I have always used gfo, not sure if it's cheaper. I like it because it is simple enough to use and I have no problem turning it off when I don't need it.

I am planning to use a DC pump for my new build. I am not sure if I want to save a few bucks and buy a jeboa, or similar, or if it is worth the money for the vectra. The tank is 65 gallons, and I will not be running a closed loop, so I wont be using many of the features on the vectra.

Yeah they have mollies in saltwater tanks there.

Probably beating a dead horse here, but you don't want to use the lace rock on a reef system. I have seen copper veins in lace rock many times.
