Wow, that's a lot of watts. Think you might be able to insulate the skimmer body as well? Seems like anything will help keep the heat in. Also, do you think the cold temperature might affect the acrylic in anyway? Shrinking, expanding, making it brittle?

I was actually just thinking about that this morning, im going to get massive heat loss through the skimmer, CaRx, and water running through the chiller (even though the chiller is not on) since they are all external. I need to think of a solution! I have some of that heat/ foil bubble wrap looking stuff I can probably wrap it in....

I am open to suggestions though if any one has any!

How did you affix the foam around the sump, just placed it there?

You could just do the same around that entire shelf couldn't you? I mean there would be some gaps in places but it might help.

Yeah its just wrapped around and taped tight against the sump. I could wrap the entire shelf, just have a removable front panel that might work. I would have to watch humidity in the box though, not sure if that would cause issues with the equipment. Skimmer pump, electronic co2 regulator etc.
or make a box like you did for your outdoor system
I wrapped the sump similar to how the outdoor system was, but the outdoor system skimmer and chiller were in a closed in shed.

Exciting times cy. Its coming along real nice
Thanks! Hopefully it will grow to be as great as my old 225g
Scape is looking spacious!
Not for long... lots of frags already lined up to go in....
Is that santa coming through the chimney?
He actually tried to come through the return pump, it did not end well.

Im calling this guy mark wahlberg since he is the lone survivor in the tank right now, and the only thing ive put in to test the water 20141226_060944_resized.jpg
