Looking really good!! Glad it worked out with the city. City code enforcement people can be real a$$holes sometimes. Glad the guy you got seemed cool.
Got me to thinking about a pond I did years ago. Not as big as yours, but over 1000 gallons. Was fun (except for the digging part). Maybe I'll do another, just don't tell my wife..... I got the go ahead for my next BIG tank, I think she'd shite a Subaru if she knew I was thinking about a pond too...
Keep the updates coming!!

unfortunately due to the holiday we wont have the foam we need to finish up till Wednesday so we can't fill it all the way up yet, but we have a few hours of finishing touches and flow adjustment and flow direction to play with till then.

Once we wrap up this side of the yard we have to get started on the other side leveling out, placing last 3 massive boulders, and creating our upper tier in the back of the yard. Also going to toss in a fire pit, sectional couch (hand built), and build a bar for my BBQ

you going to throw some bog plants in that waterfall or nah...? like some egyptian papyrus, black taro, or other plants to help filtration....??? my next pond will have sort of like a HOB refugium before going back into the main pond... it'll have plants, and gravel...

anyways... i said i was going to send you pics succulents to get around the back, but i've been lazy and sick and extra lazy...

but check out some echeveria hybrid, and echeveria "afterglow"... those are good low setting... also dinnerplate aeonium... i have a euphorbia lactea variegata and a tiny Pachypodium namaquanum for sale/trades.... the p. namquanum is crazy rare right now... but it's tiny... i also have some NOID epiphyllum that i'm just starting out... don't know if they're pink or white flowers... but look upepiphyllum to see the flowers...

Bought, or should I say OVER bought the first round of plants for around the pond.

Every plant I got had to have one or more of the following traits:
1. Attracted butterflies
2. Attracted hummingbirds
3. Blooms all year or majority of the year
4. easy to maintain and minimal watering with full sun exposure
5. and most important looks nice and adds to the tropical type feel that we are going for

Here in ground plants (some of them)

Got 4 different types of hibiscus. This red, a yellow with red center and two rainbow varieties ill take pics of once blooms are out again. One of the rainbows had some blooms about 8" across looks awesome.
