Hey Dave, what's your skimmer rated at? And what about the water height?

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
my current skimmer is atb 840 rated for 250gallons. i just purchased a replacement pump for it.
currently im running it at 7"(its on a skimmer stand)
when i upgrade my skimmer i will probally go with the atb 1040a or atb elegance 200 pro.

I have the elegance 200 non pro on my 150 and it does a good job. IMO, it'll be too small for a 300

Awesome tank Dave, I'm sure it's going to be epic!. I actually built that stand, Chad spared no expense with this stand and it should last forever. All of the tabs are stainless steel and the powder coat has an epoxy undercoat. Here's a picture of the stand before the paint (it's also on the first page of my metal stand thread).

I just stopped by John and saw your name on the board when I picked up my ATO and skimmer stand. How many gallons does that ATO hold?

Not trying to jinx or worry you Dave, but what ato/controller aka "fail safes" combo are you running? Asking because I too love the luxury and convenience of running a large ato reservoir, but last year when my ato float switch stayed in the on position, I was glad that it only dumped enough freshwater to drop my salinity by 0.01 and disaster was averted.

Tagging along. I can't wait to see the finished product. I like how you are not cutting any corners.
thanks troy!!

i run a Reeffanatic dual float switch...which 2 are highly unlikely to fail at same time, however not impossible
my ato game is not up to par, jesse any you would suggest?

I went with what I feel is the best in the game, which is the tunze osmolator. No actual moving components that can get stuck. That alone has worked but I also bought the apex and once I get that hooked up...(cough cough omar hooks it up for me cause he's such a pal and I am a putz with electronics) I will have it set up to where if my salinity drops by 0.01+ I will be notified by text, email and automatically have my ato turn off.

Recently I've started running the Avast ATO. Instead of a float switch to monitor the water level, it uses a pressure switch. Like the Tunze, not moving parts and 1/2 the cost of a Tunze. I have it hooked up through my Apex via a Break out box. The BOB also has float switches for the skimmer cup and ATO reservoir.
