Hello Mr V. I am stalking your tank hahaha. It's my favourite tank at the moment and I just read the whold thread again even though I follow it on the R2R forum lol.

Can you share some details about maintenance? How much water changes? How often and how much chaeto are you taking out? Which 2 part brand are you dosing? Which salt brand you use for water changes?

Also can you do video of the tank and corals?

What can I do to make it your favorite tank ALL THE TIME sir?

For 2 parts, I used:
- Brs gets the job done.
- ME coral, I got a bad patch one and some of my acro rtn, the rest distressed. That is it, never use it again! In this acro keeping hobby, there is no place for mistake like that!
- ESV two part never fail me, and it is not only get the job done. It make my acros happier imo.

I take the chaeto out one every two or three week when I notice them grow "out of the water"!

One thing I haven't talked much about in this thread is my maintenance. Because I am not very proud of it!
What I shoot for:
- 5 gallon water change every week.
- Test for Alk 1~2 time per week (shoot for 8~10dkh)
- Test for Calcium1~2 per month, Mag 1 a month. (Shoot for >400ppm cal, >1400ppm mag)
- Test Salinity with water change.
- clean skimmer&radion 1 per 6 months
...

However, I'm too lazy to follow my schedule! At this time, I only do water change when I have time, still 5 gallon (ESV salt) but one a month, sometime two month.
Samething happen for my testing, I test alk one a couple weeks or so.
Last time when one asked me for my parameter, I tested everything and find out the Calcium is only 290ppm!
Too lucky I catch it on the right time!

But one important thing that I do is look and inspect the coral everyday! Most important: night time! In my experience, if an acro doesn't show polyps at night, then there is something wrong happening.

Ok... Where to start... I contacted Mr. V about one of his frags a few weeks ago, and he was gracious enough to make a frag for me. I went to go pick it up yesterday with my Wife and we were floored by Mr. V's tank. What you are missing from looking at his FTS on a monitor is the 3D affect.

We learned while talking to Mr. V that he came the the planted tank world, and that his Scape was inspired by his other hobby (Planted Tanks). After he pointed it out, I can see that Mr. V uses colors and rock placement to create depth to trick the eye into thinking this is a bigger scene than what we are actually looking at. For instance, if you took the time to take in his scape, you will start drifting into the world he has created. Like a perfectly made diorama, his tank reminds me famous tank scapes created by Takashi Amano. My wife and I agreed when we got back in our car that this is the most beautifully crafted SPS tank we have ever seen. And he did it with a 45 gallon.. YIKES...

That's the Scape.. now for the corals. Like many others, I don't get trick by vendors at shows shooting tons of blues on a stick and getting me to buy them. I'm sure most of us have fallen for this and we when got home we feel like we got scammed. So when we first saw Mr. V's tank, we were like, WOW LOOK AT ALL THESE COLORFUL STICKS...... **wait a sec, it's all blue channels ramped up on his 2 radions.**** Luckily, another reefer there asked him what his light cycle was and I so he ran his light schedule and showed us what it looks like "miday".. I would say at this point, he's lights were at 10-14k. I was expecting pail and brown to start showing.. but to my surprise, the sticks held it's color. In fact, with whites coming on, the pinks and purples started to deepen.

Ok... enough jocking.. mr. V. I'll give it a rest now.. In summary, the man knows what he's doing. If you ever have a chance to buy one of his corals.. do it for the free tour. You won't regret it!!

Wow man, I'm crying!
Thank you very much for your compliments!

Sir Amano, that is what we call him, is like a Saint in Planted tank keeping, Iwagumi type to be specific. Everytime I set up a tank (fresh or saltwater), I always watch all of his videos again, again, and again, trying to understand, copy what he does. It was a very big lost for us when he died last year.

Hey V next time you do some cheato trimming let me grab a sandwich bag full for my fuge. The last bag I put in my fuge had aiptasia to it :(
Come get it anytime bro. I'm sorry didn't tell you I also have aiptasia in my tank (along with monster bubble algae and other nasty stuffs!)
But aiptasia doesn't hurt right?

Man you guys make me feel all jealous I can't see my favourite tank in person. :(
Same feeling here!! I've been lurking in your threads too :p I can't believe 1 liter of siporax and a tiny bit of tonga is keeping everything balanced. I'm only on page 7 of the revamp thread, so maybe there's more :D

I wonder what happened to the forum last two days?
I couldn't sleep so I took out the camera and got some shots! It's 4:00 in the morning! My wife said there are something wrong with me!

Anyway, hope you guy will enjoy the "hairy" night shot!
1. Walt Disney. The coloration has improved a lot since last pic, but it's no where near the "advertised"

2. Acropora Granulosa (???)

3. Vivid fire garden. You know why it got this name?!

4. Green milli (sunset milli??). My new addition. Man, even the space in my tank is limited, but I couldn't resist adding this guy! So bright and so green!

5. BC Battle Juice: paid a fortune for this piece, hopefully it will be something more than just red!

6. Old school Pink Lemonade. This is an eyes catcher for sure!

7. My bad, this one is an eyes catcher! Sc Orange Passion

8. Oh no, wrong. This one IS an eyes catcher!
OMG, I can't decide!!!!!

9. Unknown acro

10. $500 efflo. I was wrong when I thought this acro was ugly. It is developing an interesting growth pattern.

Next is my rainbow collection!
11. Jkr Joe's Rainbow: very potential with some red, some green polyps. Purple tips. Man, I love purple tips acros!

12. Therman's Rainbow: obviously you can see it is not color up yet. However, the growth pattern is nice!

13. Vivid Rainbow Delight: after I chop down the Strawberry shortcakes colony, this acro receive more light and change color a little bit. It was brown. Alot of growth too.

That's it! Thanks for watching friends.

Last time when I did a little trim on my shade of fall colony, when it grow back, it doesn't keep the shape like before. It look ugly, I don't like it!

So this time I decide to do a little experiment. I trim this guy down to the root!
Let see when it grow again, will it gain the shape back?

Before:

After:

Please, wish me luck guy!
Two weeks update: there are polyps coming out from the cut sides.

No no no, don't say that. My friends will die from laughing!
To be honest, I only know about saltwater for 3~4 years, and started keep sps for ~3 years! My experience is far less than all of the reefers out there. And in that three years I have killed so many sps that I couldn't remember! Maybe I'm just lucky keep them alive this time.

P/s: my buddies used to call me an Acropora serial killer because I killed almost every frag they threw to me.

Just for growth/color documentation, I recently got a tiny frag of Jf Foxflame.
I love to use these MarinePure spheres as a frag mount.

Update on the jx fox flames: it's encrusted a little, but still brown.

Thank you Mr V for welcoming me into your home and showing me your awesome tank. It has certainly inspired me to stick with sticks n seeing a acro tank our size thriving. You guys gotta see this tank with your own eyes! Biggest royal gramma I have seen.

My cousin came over last Sunday to help me video my tank.
For this two minutes video, we worked with the recording for two hours long, and who know how many hours it took him to edit the footages! He is pretty good with video-tographer, but he doesn't have much experience with reef tank recording, especially under Radions LEDs. I have to say that the video comes out totally not as I expected! I don't like it, and I think he neither. ☹️
It still not clear (focus problem), color is way out (the tank totally does NOT look like this in person), plus I recently trimmed down my colonies (not a prime time to recording huh). But I want to share it here so we can have an idea what I'm working with!

p/s: don't forget to change quality to 1080p and turn on the sound!☺️
