I'm sure the majority members would agree that you should up the post count requirement to 50 (meaningful) before new members can sell here. There are a few out of state members that only came here to sell coral. This also affects your paid sponsors bottom line.

Just a suggestion of course. Do it for the community that actually participates here!

I think they should make it less or just get rid of the rule. It just forces someone to make 20 shitty posts, usually dredging up ancient threads by posting "nice tank". No one enforces the rule anyways, so what's the point?

Other forums don't make the sale forum visible if you don't have enough posts. 3 months also sounds good.

Or I just say we spam the sale threads with chickens and funny youtube videos. **I'll go first. ;)

I disagree ... why ... well just for fun.

1. How do you define meaningful? "nice coral" is very meaningful as it is a compliment. It means the reader likes what he sees. Or it is just a post bump to get to the count, a tool,....Either way, it is meaningful. :)
2. "There are a few out of state members that only came here to sell coral" => You got to be kidding me. Do you need me to find your old posts about how we are buying coral here in SCR in term of pricing?
3. "This also affects your paid sponsors bottom line" => Seriously? from those out of state sellers? :)

I agree with this whole thread. I have no problem with people selling stuff, I go through times myself when I have several things to sell, but if all you ever do is sell stuff you should have to be a sponsor.

I vote for 3 months + 50 posts.
I like the idea of having the for sale forums hidden until they reach that but that also will eliminate a lot of the buyers. Some people are mostly lurkers and only respond via pm when they are interested in buying something.

I've been wanting this to happen for a long long time. 3 months 50 post. I'm sick of the sale threads

1. Meaningful as in helping the community with information or experience regarding a marine aquarium.
2. Yes go for it.

Its just a suggestion. I'm free balling it today.
lol I'm just messing with ya, there are other issues with the sale section like business owners promoting their business on the DL without having to pay sponsorship. I know a few sponsors who have mentioned this to me. But its hard to control all that specially if the mods aren't getting paid. I think they should get some sort of payment.

I know you are dude. Its all good.

It really is an easy fix, make it 50 and 3 months. It would seriously discourage people.

The members on the DL promoting a business via pm is an entirely different story and I totally get its next to impossible to handle that. Especially if you can't read pms.

The DL business we have no control over unless it's brought to our attention. It's very tough to catch. When they are though they are not allowed to sell unless they sponsor. If a sponsor is concerned please let us know.
