The businesses that are promoting via pm can't be moderated... It's the same like if I have some things for sale, and someone at the lfs tells someone else I have them for sale... It's the same thing... No one can do anything about it...

Like I mentioned before, the bmxmuseum has a huge and amazing community because everyone is forced to contribute to get in the fs and other sections of the forum... It also forces them other lurking members to learn how to use a forum to its full potential...

Hidden 3 months and 50 post is a great idea...

Keep the comments coming guys. It being mainly a local forum, the sale threads are valuable to a lot of reefers looking to build a reef and a place where you can sell and buy with confidence. With that said, we want to limit the amount of sale threads compared to informative threads and sponsor threads. I'm open to ideas that will help create a more balanced community.

I'm sure the majority members would agree that you should up the post count requirement to 50 (meaningful) before new members can sell here. There are a few out of state members that only came here to sell coral. This also affects your paid sponsors bottom line.

Just a suggestion of course. Do it for the community that actually participates here!

3 months 50 posts to SELL..

oh well... honestly don't know why sponsors pay if everyone is just buying from these thirsty swapmeet sellers instead of their shops... LOL...

but whatever... no one cares about a reefing forum... oh well... the week before RAP this place got 20 new FS threads that week.... and nothing more... then people complain about my derailing and post whoring... i'm trying to liven this place up... i'm trying to put videos of giant sunfish, an interactive view of coral farms, huge sharks, or i forgot the other video i put up... and only 2 people really comment... so stupid... why watch informative videos about the hobby we are all passionate about, if i'm only on here to make money, or snatch up a deal...???

pathetic...

Interesting. Couldn't help myself

50 posts and 90 days seems reasonable. It's not a very high hurdle to reach.

I lurk more than I should. But I both enjoy and appreciate contributions from fellow reefers. Need to learn to add my voice.

Nobody really wants a Craig's reef list. I like for sale threads although I'd prefer more coral than equipment. On the other hand, it is important to support sponsors and LFS. Although my view of online vendors is different from LFS. LFS support are local economy and taxes plus we get to know the owners and it becomes a very personal experience dealing with them.

If you truly want us to buy with confidence, then I would suggest the same that Cody and gumbii are suggesting. I sure as heck don't have confidence in someone who just joined in order to sell!
