You will be missed.

Sadly, my cooter passed. I had him eating frozen, but with my new job, I really neglected the QT for a few weeks. I think he died of nitrate poisoning. Otherwise, he was relatively healthy. I'm not saying quarantining wrasses is bad, but I think that quarantining any fish in a small tank is a risk if you don't keep up with daily water changes. I really do wish I had a bigger QT and more room for error.

Why nitrate poisoning? What were the nitrates at?

Sorry to hear... try getting something bigger. I went with a 55 gallon cube with a jbj canister filter for 180 gallons and I do 10 gallon weekly WC. My fish are clean and healthy. Haven't lost any in a while.

I tested it with Salifert and it was high--almost the darkest shade. That and I hadn't done a water change to the tank in weeks. Ammonia was zero. So that's my best guess.
Doesn't seem right to me. FO tanks have really high nitrate at times and the fish aren't effected. I'm thinking it might have been something else. Either way sorry man.

Thanks for the heads up. ..still waiting on 1 from that website I posted lol
Nice dude! They're poor shippers, so be ready! If it looks completely dead, give it some time, it might revive itself. It took mine probably a good week to get to eat. Brine and mysis. It used to munch on chefzilla too.

I wish you luck!!

doubt it was nitrates that killed the fish more like Ammonia that's why nitrates were high ammonia rises then get eaten turns to nitrite then gets eaten and turns to nitrate
