BeanMachine I would have to suggest to check out the thread on RC. There are several ways to build it and at different price points. I may be building one soon for a friend. I'll DM you with any deals I find
Cool thanks Danny.

Thanks. Synergy told me to run them all separately. It will be challenging to not make it bulky looking. I've been looking for a build thread but haven't found much. I did come across that thread, but its a custom one piece on the back side of the tank, and 4 holes drilled so its a little different setup. I'm almost ready to get started on it.

Just remember to keep your 2 full siphon drains closest to the back so that you can prevent as much horizontal stretchs as possible. The 2 second emergency drains can literally be ran horizontal all the way to hide it a bit. If you can post a few pics. Full side pic and front. I have a few ideas

Anybody have a close up of the artfully acrylic screen ? Want to see how to place the rubber?silicone gasket>
the problem with LExan or polycarbonate that it might bow or flex if the aquarium is too deep or long.

Here you go. It sags maybe an 1/8" from the weight of the acrylic frame but nothing crazy. I haven't noticed any bowing yet but I'm just running leds so not much heat. Tank is a JBJ 45 which is 26.5 Long x 21 Wide. Its a nice product just expensive.

You can always go with thicker acrylic, I thought about making my own prior to devoting what tank I was gonna go with on my next build. I thought about that issue bring how thin acrylic will sag fairly easily, my plan was to buy 2 1/8th pcs and sandwich them together. 1/4in thick would probably be a lot more noticeable but a lot stronger

Almost there Cody, looking good dude!! Seems like nothing is better than taking your time and doing right from the get go, I'm extremely surprised how patient I'm being right now that I'm tankless lol

I'll measure the thickness when I get home from work but I think its about a 1/4" thick.

When I got a quote from John @ AA, he recommended/quoted going with 3/8" polycarbonate for my tank because of the 27" long span. he said the 1/4" wouldn't work as well.

Probably going to make one for fun but a sheet of polycarbonate or acrylic cut out as one piece seems to expensive, since the mesh will replace it. Have to figure out how to bond strips of polycarbonate to make it for cheaper.

That's very easy to do, just a matter of getting the right material that will not affect the tank in any way.I had one thought though, let's say you get two 3/16th pcs, you cut a 1/8th groove on both pieces and stick a piece of acrylic rod in there for extra support. Or just simply glue an extra strip length wise lol

John can make these type lids now? I asked him before I bought mine from Artfully Acrylic, but he said he didn't have a CNC machine. How much did he quote you?

His quote was a little under artfully price+shipping. so it might be even cheaper for you guys that dont need john to ship it to you. I just asked him a few days ago so not sure how long he has been doing them.
