I know I'm about to start a riot but...what LFS do YOU think has the best selection of SPSs? I'm about to make a texa$ run somewhere soon...

(Pauses and waits for the FSMs to throw their name in the ring...)

Edit: I have a few ideas but I want to know what the REAL reefers think! ;)

I never understand why vivid is always left out. Reef raft and sps coral store are wonderful. But if you want colored up frags, literally no one has the amount, variety and colors of vivid. It's a no brainer, why would you want a brown "named" frag when you can choose a colored up named or no-namer that sparkles. And I understand the prices that vivid charges for its premium stock but I would rather pay 40-90 bucks for a colored frag. All three stores have lots of incredible beauties and they all have a range of pricing. My personal favorites are all three and no one can beat the prices of the sps coral store for named pieces. Reef raft has some of the most unusual corals anywhere

There are so many great stores in southern cal. I have never been to sexy corals but I hear great things about it--I am going to make a point of going out there I have found countless gems by stopping in lots of different coral stores like coral collection and coral gazers. It's a long list and I feel bad for not knowing or mentioning some of the other great stores out there

When I first got in this hobby most of the sps u could buy was alway brown. I remember going down to the LPS and dropping like $200 on like 15 mini colonies of sps that were all brown. Taking them home a coloring them up in a few months. Buying brown sps is what got me addicted to sps in the first place.

My best advice hit up, nicely some of the guys one here who have big tanks and never sell on threads. I've gotten my bigger pieces from some of the members on here. And for cheap.

That said, I did like the Sps store for some of the coral that most folks won't have grown out. So I didn't mind paying a fair market price for frags.

Also once your tank is "matured" you can always buy some not so colored up colonies for a discount. I got my joe the coral all beat the f up and now it's legit. Still crossing my fingers on a blueberry fields but who knows what that brown colony will be.

Also Garret's is cool, cause its hard to
Kill his coral IME.

i completely agree, i have yet to lose a coral from him. I love reef raft but i've lost everything i have ever bought from there (some were my fault though lol)

I've always liked vivid. SPS coral store is very nice but the selection at vivids huge and im sure there will be something you like. I would hit those two if you cant wait until the guys go out to Steve Gs.

Yeah Al you should wait and hit up Steve's with us. You won't be disappointed
I've been to Garrets. Juan was there as a witness. He has a Mandarin on steroids in that raceway! Lol. I didn't have any luck with the stuff I got there. I think it was because his water is pristine and mine was on par with raw sewage at the time. Hahahahaha. Yeah I think I'm going to garrets then I'll hit up the OC scene afterwords...

I hit up the vivid website every now and then to check out their WYSIWYG section. They are a little pricey but I haven't seen their stock in person so who am I to complain?

Its a pain there aren't many SPS heavy LFSs in the IE...

Jason was stocking sps for a little while. He was geting goodies from occulus. We gotta get him back in board the sps train. It's just hard because shops make the most money on the bread and butter regular easy care corals.

Yeah I remember when he first opened he had crazy amounts of sick SPS. Not so much anymore. I wish he did but I'm sure he has his reasons. Of course you can find some gems at Mystic but its hit or miss. But then you can always go drop a stupid amount on SPS at death world and get some strange exotic SPS disease.
