At MACNA I was told you can hook up two as slave/master. My thought on my upcoming build is one horizontal on one end and one vertical on the other.
Yea I've heard that too. I'm pretty sure they can b hooked up to a apex as well. They r just a 24v pump.

I can see that being a great idea. No dead spots that way.

So to day I received the 2nd beta text prototype. The motor block is the production model but the the controller is still a beta version. The pump is quieter then the prototype. Plus the magnets are a lot stronger. The controller is a better as well. It looks like the first prototype but it has more functions. The pulse mode actually works on the 2nd beta to where I can control the frequency of the pulse. I will that the riptide can produce a pretty sick a** wave motion in the tank.

Ok so over the weekend I took my mp60's off line and just went with the riptide. I did put the 2 wp25s back in the tank on pulse mode. The wp's give me a nice wave motion. But the return and the riptide r my main sources of flow. So far I'm liking it I've even been contemplating on selling my mp60s

It's not called the riptide anymore FYI. It's called the maxspect Gyre.

I signed up for the pre order deal. I'll be getting one as soon as they are available.

Nice. Holly shiet I didn't even notice that. I went back through all my emails and Facebook messages and they r just calling it the gyre now. Now that I put 2 and 2 together Lindsey said something like that a week or so back.

Eric, how is the flow at the bottom/sandbed? My MP40's leave a lot to be desired.
Let's just say when I first got the first prototype I wasn't aloud to post about it. I had it running at 100% on my overflow. With in 3 days the undertow the gyre created pulled all my sand towards the overflow and created a 5" high dun at the base of the overflow.

Why would they not want you to post that?

Idk I think they wanted the beta test to be a quite thing. Just in case the pumps failed. They wanted to see how well they would perform before letting the public know. And after a few weeks of the pumps out in beta tester hands with no issues we were told it's ok to post online. But we couldn't take pics or vids. If someone wanted to see the pump in action they had to see it live. They didn't want images of the beta test pumps getting out. After a week or so I was told videos and pics were ok to post online, but no close ups of the pump it's self.

That makes sense. Do you get to keep the beta pump?

Idk. I still have the first beta pump I received. The second beta is in my tank. The second beta is the actual production model pump but still has the beta controller.
The second beta is a lot better designed pump then the first beta. The first beta was cheaply constructed it was only meant to last for a few months as a tester. Last weekend I took both pumps apart cause I had a bad barring on my second beta. I swapped the barrings form the first beta to the second beta. It fixed the problem I was having with the second beta, but I found that the first beta was rusting at the magnets. So I'm glad I took it out when I did. So far the second beta has been running flawlessly sense I changed out the bad barring.

Ok so the gyre XF180 was to be revealed at MACNA this year. I know it was displayed but I don't know if many people noticed it. It's just slightly bigger then the 150 model. So unless it was side by side or u know about it, the 180 could have been missed.
Well I'll say some might not care but for me it's a big deal. I've been a support of the gyres sense b4 the masses got to see them in person. I am really happy with my two XF150s. But really want to swap them out for the 180s.
I haven't been able to find any images of the 180s but like I said it probably couldn't be recognized from the 150 if they weren't side by side.
So here

But let me tell u the bigger news. Maxspect is beta testing two XL gyres right now. This gyres is made for 1000 gallon and up systems.

That pvc pipe is 1 1/4" to show u the size.
Here's a pic of Chris taking a nap and grading it with his life if u don't think it's that big
