Hey guys I have a candy cane coral with plenty of head to frag .. What I wanted to know is if its ok if I can remove that white stuff on it So i can frag a few heads ...It looks like white sponge or can it be something else??

If its a sponge than yeah you can just expose it to air and peel it off. Should be pretty easy. The pic although clear doesn't really show what you are talking about though so I'm not sure.

removing it shouldnt be a problem. I would just frag as if it was not there. if it gets in the way, then it gets in the way.

Save the white sponge and place it in the sump or glue it to a rock. It's natural filtration.
I agree

but you could simply brush it away with a toothbrush (NOT THE ONE YOU USE)..it is a pain because it does come back and can grow over certain corals an suffocate them...BEWARE..get it out of your tank!!!!!

Meh, It's not that bad. I have it growing in many parts of my rock scape and its real easy to take off.i have never had it smother Sps or any other type. Maybe I have the stoner type, lazy and complacent.

Sponges are harmless...excellent filtering machines....can be removed by pulling it away from the base of the coral. NO WORRIES. Have fun with your fragging project.
