Im sure a thread exists about this, but as a new resident to an area that actually has the ability to collect from the wild, I was wondering what the details are. I was in Seal Beach today and noticed hermits, snails, crabs, starfish, nems, etc. Which species can be collected? Or do good ole Cali laws not allow for that? If a thread already exists, feel free to point me in that direction but my curiosity was definitely sparked today. Thanks

First you are correct in the Cali laws, it is against the law. Second our tanks are tropical water animals and the stuff here are cold water animals. So unless you have a huge chiller to keep your tank 65-70 degrees stuff will not last long.

It would be nice to have more info on what can be collected. The Southern California native tanks at Long Beach Aquarium are quite nice. We have lots of lps that are aesthetically pleasing.

Like he said you would need a large chiller to make this a possibility. Sounds like a super sweet project.
