Hey guys and gals. As some know, I am in the middle of moving (I sold my tank in the sale section). 11 days ago I traded equipment w a fellow member here. I drove out to his place of work. Due to the arrangement, I was unable to test the items there. After getting home later that night, I placed them into a box (I was moving so things were getting packed).
Fast forward this morning. I finally set up the tank and went to install said equipment. To my disappointment, one of the powerheads did not work. After doing some trouble shooting, it was suggested and confirmed by the manufacturer that the power supply needed to be replaced.

I contacted the other party, explaining the situation and mentioning that, yes i did not check the pumps at pickup due to lack of time, lack of an available outlet and because I trusted the guy ( we knew some of the same people ). I obviously should have checked.

Short story even shorter, the other guy refused to resolve the situation amicably even though I'm open to several different approaches. He basically said that the pump worked when he had it and anything after that is my problem. Please heed my advice and check twice so you don't end up in my situation

Kind of sucks. It's kind of like getting a toy for christmas that needs batteries and you don't have any batteries laying around.

I find it odd that he would think that I would make it up. Out of all things that can go wrong a powerheads , a 50$ piece is hardly something to make up a story about

Lame. In a place where hobbyist help each other out, some people are just looking to take advantage of others or the situation.

this isn't a bash thread, and no names are used but rather a reminder to always check the items you are buying or trading for.

Please leave feedback, I don't think I'd be as nice as you are being about the whole thing, and I wish to avoid such scenarios.

Sorry to hear. I know you're not here to blast the guy. Thanks for the warning. But we also don't know the other side. I'll have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Anything really could've gone wrong in just a few days. I had a guy buy an light from me. He fully tested it. Then had issues after he got home. I was accused if knowing it had issues and all hell broke loose. All it was was a loose wire from poor transportation. For me I just say f+ck me if I bought something used and broke. Lol. But when the accusing starts that's where you really have a head ache. I just bought a used sump that had a chip on the top. I paid the guy and said please fill test it. Then I'll come pick it up later. Hope it doesn't cost you too much to get it going.

Another way of avoiding issues as a seller is to take pictures or video with time and date of the working product. Which lucky for me I did the day before to show that the light is good. I'd hate to waste anyone's time if something was broken and I didn't know about it.

Lol dude you got to be kidding me the so called reefer that traded you a so called not working pump was me lol the pump worked as of the morning that you revived the pump. I even sent you a video of the pump working. You know what's crazy is I really didn't want to trade the pump with you because you seemed fishy yet you begged me to. I know that the plug worked and you where at my car taking the pump apart looking to make sure it was not rusted out.yet you wait 15 days to plug it in that around questionable. That is the mp40 that I purchased from Ron and it worked great for him 3 weeks earlier, and worked great for me also. I think you messed up the plug our don't know how to use the sync feature.
