its a cheap way of carbon dosing. i was doing it. worked well for me. but it take some patients slowly ramp up the dosing then when you see your p04 drop drastically cut the dosing in half. and continue that amount

If I buy good vodka I end up getting the better half of the bottle.

I buy The most disgusting, cheapest, nastiest vodka like popov or similar label. I have been dosing for about 8 months off and on but for the past 2 months every day 3-5ml if I go to 5ml I sometimes get strings on the glass. I keep it at 4ml per day and that's about right.

Reefkeeping magazine, has a good table about dosing vodka and literature on the subject matter.

GL, but only dose something you can keep up with.

I dose vodka- did the 'ramp-up' the first time I tried it, stopped after awhile (ran out of vodka and was broke,) but when I restarted it (after a good 8 week gap) I didn't do a ramp up, I went straight to 5 mL in my 30 gallon tanks. Only issue I've had is overstripping the water and have lost color in a couple of my SPS colonies- weirdly my LPS's and Zoa's have never looked happier (though that I attribute to the rise in magnesium levels which is a separate thing.)

i do 6 ml daily in my 80 gallon and the tank looks awesome. I tried the bio-pellets, but they caused issues, so went back to vodka. I may add the vinegar and sugar in the future, but no need right now. Since going back to vodka, my skimmer has kicked it up a notch, went from needing to empty it once a week to every 2 days.

I have had more success with vodka than any other sugar or carbon source. I tried vinegar and it was a fail for me. I tried vitamin C also fail.

I guess if I've learned anything is stick to what works and dont f it up.

I agree, I only actually noticed a difference when I dosed vodka, when I dosed sugar and vinegar, too, there was no real possitive difference, but no negative difference either. vodka is what I have had the most success with...
