Good choice on the light. You could always buy a reefbrite blue led and put it at an angle for pop and early viewings and late night.

I don't think I'd ever run a tank with out a lil led. It just enables you to look at the tank for longer periods of time without the huge bill attached to that.

Idk how capable u are of soldering, but since u have a canopy, u can make a sweet DIY 3w setup. Way brighter then the reg reef brites. A lot cheaper too. If u have an apex, u can dim it and do the whole sunrise/sunset deal.

But it looks cheesy. And then you have to hide the chingaderas. Too much hassle. If I had the spare coin I'd buy an all in one.

I dont think I have the time available to take on a DIY, would the reefbrite be dimmable with an apex? an Apex system I think will be my next investment here shortly. Anyone know the best black friday deals going on with those?

Do you have a pic with just the LED on? I'd like to do the same but use it mainly for nighttime moonlight and don't want to do it if it's too bright...corals gotta sleep too.

What's your ventilation like in that canopy? I'm also planning. To put. My ATI hybrid in a canopy, but it's discouraged by ATI.

I have a 6 in hole drilled on one side of the canopy with an axial fan hooked up, but I will put additional fans in there hooked up to turn on when the lights turn on. Canopy has an open back so im thinking I should be in decent shape. I would have liked to go with LED's but with the shallow canopy I didnt want the disco ball effect.

I love the tank. Awesome job with it. I'm working on one the exact same dimensions. It's great to see one like it up and running. I wish I had room to do the plumbing through the wall like that. What are you doing for your water return? Is it over the back or is it plumbed through the glass? How many returns? I'm trying to make decisions about my plumbing and trying to decide if I should try to see if the glass is tempered and drill it for the returns, and add a second drain. So many decisions at this stage of the game. We are rebuilding the stand and I'm trying to finalize my plans for the canopy. I like your doors on the front. I'm debating over leaving most of the top open for heat management. It's going to be tall enough that very few people would be able to see over the top. I'm looking forward to watching your tank evolve.

thanks, I have a eheim return split going thru the overflow box and out the sides of it. I didnt screw anythign into the bulk head cuase I wanted it to look a little cleaner so its just the open bulkhead flowing out. what I like about my canopy is it has doors aswell as the front foot or so is on a hinge and can be opened for even better access.
