I'm just afraid he's gonna get punked around. I hope tomorrow morning the aggression dies down and I can let it be. The regal was really aggressive towards it; the tangs, not as much. We'll see tomorrow I guess.
Good luck, hope he makes it!
I ended up buying the flame angel from xmas_one and my regal got very aggressive with the bicolor angel for some reason!! Lol go figure... It was only for a couple days, now everyone is happy!! I'm maxed out on fish in my tank :a45:

So this morning I turned the lights on again (dim moonlights). The idol was swimming around and the Regal has been the biggest aggressor. The tangs are not out yet, but we shall see how they react. I hope this aggression lasts a few days and then subsides. Will keep y'all posted as the day goes by.

So I've been observing the tank more over the course of the hour and I noticed my tangs (purple and yellow) aren't showing any aggression towards the Idol. Yet my Regal is being a complete punk. What a curious paradox! I would have sworn my tangs would have been the aggressors! But I guess the Idol is somewhat similar size as my tangs.

I'm about to feed some mysis and brine now, so I hope that curbs some of the aggression. Still crossing my fingers, but it seems the Idol has calmed down a bit and is swimming a little more freely.

EDIT: Another interesting thing is that my Yellow and Purple seem to go after my small Potter's Angel more than anything. Very odd since it's about 2". Tiny in comparison to them.

Still gotta love the regal!! He's my enforcer now, my purple tang and a few others follow his lead now

Just feed them heavy for a week or so, helps keep the aggression down a bit!! That's what I usually do and then start reducing feedings after a week or two depending how the new fish looks, I usually feed em heavy till I see their fins fully healed.

I was just thrown back by how aggressive he's been to the Idol. Since I put the Regal in, he has been nothing but a model citizen with the other fish. I was truly expecting my tangs to be the punks of the tang, but I was proven wrong.

Yea I had the same reaction when I added the flame angel last week! Thought it would be the purple tang who would go ape sh*t and start whipping them with his tail, he was just chilling behind the regal letting him wreak havoc on the little guys lol

Haha. That's so weird. My Regal hasn't paid attention to the Potter's yet. I guess it's too small for it's taste.

In other news....I just fed some frozen, but the Idol didn't go for it. It was hanging around the feeding, but just wasn't going for the food. Hopefully, it's just temporary stress because I saw him eat both pellets and frozen at the store.

Really? How does that work?
Pattern and amount of flow are big parts of their environment. I had some aggression issue with a desjardini tang to a MI and a blueline angel. After reading this from another thread or an online article, I turned up the MP40 to full blast but have since dialed down a bit. Aggression is still there but definitely has subsided.

Most idol if they are not use to fighting off the fish with aggression they will shut down. My buddy killed 4 MI and all eating at the lfs and found out the blue tang was the issue. Tangs play sneaky, they are angels when you are watching and bullies when you are not looking. This MI was in the tanks alone and ate like a pig, he own the tank and after I add tang he push his way to get his food.

Ah, I see. I haven't noticed any aggression from the tangs, but my Regal is another story. The Regal calmed down a bit since lights went on a few hours ago, but will pick on him if the Idol gets too close. I'm trying to watch him closely on my webcam and when I'm around the tank. I fed the fish this morning with brine and mysis, but the Idol didn't go for the food. I hope it's just temporary stress. Now I noticed him picking on some of the rocks a little bit.
