just got glass 48x30x24 tank
it has 1.5 in. Drains on back wall already.
what's the best set up as far as holes are concerned?my old tank had 2 returns on back wall with center overflow.was thinking that's best but not sure,what do you guys think?

No overflow? Drains on the back wall? Can you post a picture?

I can tomm. But currently NO OVERFLOW,JUST two 1.5 inch drains on back wall. Had a hose with a 90degree pvc elbow as return

I don't like the external overflows. Always hear at least a horror story or two. Those holes must be for closed loop not for drains. I'm half awake right now but I think the way you had it before in your old system is the best way.



Or you can gravity feed a refugium with one hole and the other can be for reactors.

+1 on hob overflow I have heard alot of horror stories.
I seen it running before I bought it off C.l
they were both drains to fuge then returned with magdrive return pipe was zip tied 2 drain

Install a overflow box!
