Haven’t done a water change since I started the tank and the skimmer has been off for a month. Looks like I have to dose nitrate.

The refugium is definitely putting in work

I think that PO4 is more important than nitrate. Even if NO3 is “zero”, our hobby grade tester may not be accurate? Are you going to harvest half the chaeto or dose ammonium chloride?

I’ll probably do both. The chaeto is out competing the dragons breath right now. I’ll probably get a hamster ball for the chaeto.

I’m up to 6 CSBs now. They keep splitting! There is one that’s way in a crevice that might be 2 but I’m counting it as one right now. One split off and was on the glass this morning so I threw it in a hamster ball and it’ll make its way to its new home tomorrow, hopefully.

I’ve been dosing ammonia and other nutrients to the tank and it’s still ULNS. Phosphate actually dropped from last week! I ended up taking out a full bucket of cheato to see if I can get those up.

Upgraded my CARX. I’ve had issues with it since I bought it. I think the put too big a pump and it was over heating the reactor. It’s been in storage the past 4 years and finally decided to upgrade it. The upgrade comes with a co2 chamber and a DC pump. If this doesn’t solve the issue I’m going to loose it lol.

Curious how you are running ozone? 24/7 or only few hrs at night. And are you targeting some ORP level? And what are pro/cons you are seeing? And are you running carbon too?

Right now I’m not running anything. I just put the skimmer online again. The refugium has been my only filtration.

I did get an ozone reactor but I haven’t set it up. When I was running it I ran it through the skimmer. Started with 350 ORP and it ran 24/7 on the lowest setting. The ORP probe turned off the generator when it hit 350 ORP and turn it back on when it hit 340. Later I upped it to 450.

Can’t change numbers with ORP because it fluctuates so much. I would start with 350 or 100 above your current ORP then adjust accordingly.

I didn’t run carbon when I ran ozone. Ozone does the same job that carbon does.

No cons if you do it correctly. Pros, clear water, slower algae growth on the glass, and it eliminates that algae smell or any smell from your aquarium
