Not that I could tell... Found a great tip though! Get ahold of some purple coralline scrapings( I got a bunch free at petco, from their frag tank cups they put frags ontop of) scraped it off and broadcast it into tank .. BOOM! It spread in no time ! Used purple up for months with no luck... Also make sure your bulbs are not old (t5).. Good luck!

I ran kent marine purple tech on my nano. You can't overdose or else you will have an algae bloom. But it does work and I'm tired of scrapping off purple coraline on my acrylic glass. It's becoming a pita.

Coralline algae are like Saint Bernard puppies... so cute and cool when they are young.

Now I have to pull out my powerheads every month or so and do a vinegar bath because the clumping coralline grows in between the grooves of the housing and restricts flow.
I don't mind them growing on rocks, but in my tank they seem to grow faster on glass and plastic.

I hate coralline. You love it then you really really hate it lol.

Purple up is really just calcium. Get a rock with some and Scrape some coralline into your tank. Add the purple up or purple tech if you want and it will enhance it.

The coraline amino acids from salifert works wonders for purple. When I was a newb I dosed it and over night I would have large patches of purple. Also certain snails will never let you have purple rocks. I you see a tank with chalk purple it's because their clean up crew is weak sauce and that area doesn't get much par. Coraline likes dirty and also likes stability and lower light levels.

Thanks guys, I am starting to see some growth. I'm also getting some green and red growth which I really like.
