After a few years away from the hobby, I'm back! Where did I go? ...I just simply got tired of moving my reef and decided that a break and refresh. Time away was good, but things havent gotten any slower. The family has grown and kids are my joy, but i still want to make some time to build a reef again.

My last tank was a 180g Leemar and honestly I was in pretty deep... Just my addictive personality I guess. So am I gonna tone it down a bit with this set up? It crossed my mind, but probably not gonna happen under my own restraint.

I've always loved peninsula tanks, but we just couldn't find the space. Another thing I was worried about was moisture and smell of a large tank in the house. I finally sold the idea of an inwall tank to the wifee. With good ventilation, we could solve the moisture and smell
Concerns.

So what good is a half bathroom anyways?!?! I mean, u can't shower in it... U can wash your hands in the kitchen sink nearby... And the toilet is always backed up!!!!

Remodel? Meh...
In wall fish tank? Hell yeah!!!!

This is the other side of the bathroom wall that is adjacent the kitchen/dining room. The garage will be on the other side of the fish room...

Wow, awesome to have you back! I'm expecting nothing but the best from your build. If you can have the willpower to stick with easy corals I think you'll be able to find a good balance between family and tank. I've personally been enjoying the easier corals like goniopora, digitatas, gorgonia, neon sinularia and zoanthidas. Easy acros like stags are good too. This advice was given to me from a friend that has kept stunning SPS tanks only to later find out that he enjoyed a stocked softy tank just as much with lots more time to spend with his family.

Have you decided on which lighting technology you're going to use?

Hi Aaron, thats actually a good idea to help find balance with softies. I was also surprised how much I enjoyed a softie tank I saw at Ali's shop. Glad you are still going strong in the hobby and hopefully we can catch up soon. As for lights... I'm open to new technolOgies. I was hoping to get some feedback from this thread and forum.
Really looking forward to this build. Welcome back
Thanks pgr!

So here she is... 500lb glass beauty. She may not look like much now but I see the potential and am getting excited!

Tank Specs: 72x36x24, eurobraced, 3 sided starfire, center overflow.

Huge thanks to James, jimmy007, lowbudget, Reefkt (Kevin), and the three amigos for helping move this beast. It was a bit tricky since it was so **** heavy, the steps and handrail where a challenge and everything was wet! Sorry for the mess James! It took 8 guys toove it out of the condo and just two of us to get it off the truck bed into my backyard.

There it lays until it's ready to be lifted onto the stand.

Thats blue painters tape so it wouldn't get scratched during the move.

That is one sweet looking tank. Can already see how it's going to turn out. Nice view for the family and quasi fish room with all the equipment on the other side with plenty of space to work with. Awesome

Nice tank! This should be a good build :nicetank:
Thanks!

Walls coming down... This was more work than I thought...

Vanity and toilet gone... New door going into the garage wall for access... Jimmy had a good idea of double doors but I would only fit a 46" door...

Good to see you got the tank home. I was thinking of your situation with getting out of the condo last weekend. It was nice to meet you. Is the stand in your house or still in the garage? I don't envy you lifting that mutha onto the stand. Good luck.

Jerry
