Not a surprise all the fishes died, they didn't cycle the tank, used tap water, and it looks like they put about 40-50 damsels/ yellow tangs in the tank.

fyi, they do cycle the tanks. atleast that is what has been reported no other sites. They have no control over the editing process.
When they show the garden hose in the tank and say they have 2 hours left to get the fish in and the area cleaned up, they aren't cycling squat...
In the Mr saltwater interview with Brett, he mentions that they seed their bio balls... I'm sure that works great in freshwater, but for saltwater, you need aerobic and anaerobic bacteria... BioBalls can only host aerobic. But they do make great nitrate generators!

They don't care, all they wanted to use the skateboard
ramp for was a big advertisement! Only had to last a few
days, the fish were just part of the prop!

All I have to say, is we honestly have no real accurate information regarding how they acclimate/cycle their tanks.

Seriously their shooting gets edited.

In case you people dont realize, they are showing over a week worth of material in 1 hour, do you think they live in a time vacuum where their 2 weeks = our 1 hour?

How do we know people with the phonebooth tank didnt kill their **** themselves, maybe just left dead fish floating filling the tank with nitrates.

The only comment I have... is i agree that most of the tanks we see on this show are cool... but HOW are people supposed to maintain them I cant imagine its very easy to feed/maintain/clean these strange tanks like the gumball machine, this phonebooth, the ramp..

But honestly talking about their cycling and acclimation procedures is kinda a joke cause we have no idea what they really do. They have a 1 hour show... how would u expect them to show an acclimation process... it would take a whole season to not even set up a single tank.

go ask the folks at the La Jolla group in tustin how they set up and acclimated the Skateboard ramp tank fish... Within 2 days of filming, all but 3 fish were dead, and the 3 died shortly after...
Just like their on tv segments, they used raw tap water, dumped the salt into the tank, and within an hour, dropped in ALL of the fish... no drip acclimation. They put them in trashcans in the water from the wholesaler and brought it to the temp of the tank water, then scooped them out of it and into the display, some they even dumped in with a little of the wholesalers water... as interesting as the tank builds are, they need to hire a professional crew to do the water and fish... They only know how to make acrylic tanks... nothing more.

You obviously enjoy this single minded track your on but seeing as they have a large base of returning customers then you must be right...

Their methods may not be great but the sensationalism brought to the hobby is a good thing. people may see the show and really want to get in the hobby. this is a good thing especially in times like these. the show is for entertainment. bottom line. ENTERTAINMENT. :dontknow:

i agree! tanks are cool and im sure it will bring a whole new group of rich people that want their mansions filled with bad a** fish tanks...so i guess its good for the hobby...hopefully next season they will start acllimating, using RODI,and letting the tanks get established before actually adding fish..
