TheMac's 180 Nem tank

Last week I found a hair line crack in my sump around a bulkhead so I have to replace it soon.

With this beast

Still a little dirty need to let it cure befor washing.
Got a 90gal off craigslist and added some baffles. Boom

From right to left
Bubble Trap, media chamber(for carbon & gfo if needed), then another BT, skimmer chamber, two more BTs, then fug/ATS chamber, then another BT, and last is just water level chamber

Craigslist sumps have lots of phoSphates. And if Humperdinck designed the sump it explodes when you are not home.

No filter socks Eric? How do u plan on running the ats? I am setting up my new sump, and thought about possibly incorporating an ATS. What's a water level chamber?

No socks. I might b half bean but the oakie is strong in me! Not a big fan of socks I'm lazy the ATS chamber will b low flow so detritus will collect there and I can shop vac it out when needed. Here's the ATS

It's going to b a water fall style. The ATS is a sheet of polycarbonate that I took the dermal to and roughed it up. The ATS sheet is removable for cleaning or if it fails it come out and stays and I just put chaeto in there.

I guess u do want bubbles but the ATS should b fine. My return is just so much at 3600 gph I need to eliminate as many micro bubbles as possible.

Just to hold water and a place to maintain water level and hold float valve and probes. Nothin special.

You have no idea how true this statement is. In my fat noggin are the keys to everyone's problems but the locks haven't been developed yet for me to unlock them hahaha.


Now some my say "but e I thought u took your ATS off a few months back?" Yes I did it's true. That was cause I was having silica issues and ATS don't remove silica. We'll I got the silica issue worked out and put silica buster filters on my RO/DI unit. But durning the time I wasn't running the ATS I developed cyano and other unwanted algae's. So about two weeks ago I took the skimmer off line and put in a 4"X9" ATS and the cyano has started going away and things just started looking a whole lot better.

Well guys looks like the 180 nem tank days r numbered. Got a smoking deal on a larger tank and wife said "I don't care what ever makes u happy." "Hun the fish need more room so they'll stop fighting." "Yea I know" cause she refuses to let me get rid of any of them. Also I've been getting sick of nems and want to do sps again. So here soon will b a nem clearance sale. So stayed tune

Thank bro. Most of them do. I know my clown tang has something. He's been getting skinner and skinner. So when I break down this tank there all going into a qt for a few weeks. It kill parasite. Ich I give a s*** about they all have it know but I keep the temp stable so it doesn't affect them.
