The sump looks really nice! Very clean looking without the top trim! Does removing that compromise the structure at all? Or did you do something different to modify it?

By adding the baffles inside the tank it give it the support back that I lost by taking off the top trim. I've filled it full to the top for half the week so far, and there are no signs of stress in the silicon joints yet. I figure if it can handle a full tank of water moving with this pump then it can handle a half a tank.

This week has been slow go on build status. Between working nights and replacing AC unit on the house I didn't have much time to get the wood to skin the stand.

Today I did do some DIYing tho. On my old tank I ran 2 3/4" sea swirls. On this tank I didn't thing I was going to be able to use the 3/4" with the return pump I have going on this tank.
I took one of the old sea swirls all the way apart and figured I could DIY it to an 1.5" setup

Sorry I don't have pic of the steps I did just a few of the finish product.

First after taking it a part I drilled a inch&9/16 hole in the original casing. Then took out the table saw and notched 2 slots in a peace of 1.5 PVC. The notches are for the O rings to fit in to cause a seal inside the 2 peaces of PVC. Then glued the notched PVC to the top peace of casing.

This pic shows the notches with the O rings already on.

Then I took an 1.5 sleeve coupling and cut the end off. This fit perfect over the 1.5" PVC with the O rings on it. Then I cut and epoxied the old arm of the original 3/4" sea swirl to the sleeve
This pic shows that

Then after the epoxy cured I was good to test try

Drum roll please, the vid

Well thanks to Al and my brother we go the tank on the stand. So I can start skinning the stand.

Ok I know u guys are going to ask why put the tank on the stand be for skinning. That cus the wood skin will be covering the black trimming. So when it's all said and done all u will see is glass on wood.

From ground to the top of the tank it stands 68" tall. Look at the door behind the tank. It's about 4" shy. Add another 16" for the canopy. The said part is I'm really contemplating on scratching the 180 tank and going 225, so adding another 6" of glass on the hight.

Dude, things are looking good with the tank!
Are you still thinking of having the stand also be a bar that you can sit at? I'm looking forward to seeing how the ATS works for you.

I've got my little 17.4 gallon tank all set up. It's modest, but easy as heck to maintain. With the breaking down of the 180 and my frag tank, the math put me at a 91.3% downgrade in size. There are a few things I need for it. I'm thinking a moorish idol and an achilles tang will start me off with stocking it.

Are you still going with the anemone garden? I hope so.
