im not running anything special with the sump just the skimmer and a gang of hair algea
im keeping a powerhead on down there to keep things moving and as for the tank im sooo not worried,, ive had other feed before,, disaster to say the least,, even with showing them exactly what to feed and how much, i keep my systems and collection simple for what wickedfish stated kinda... i dont want to be a slave to my system more then i already am, i love this hobby but i do have other things i enjoy as well and dont like the whole worrying about this or that with my reef hobby when im trying to enjoy other things...
i enjoy having full control over "weather" conditions as well,, hence my switch box,, timers would be ideal for later so i can set up tidal changes for a consistent raise or drop of flow during each day and add my storm every now and then like i do "stir sand a bit, turn both k4's on and the return pump all together is like 3000 gph, gets a lil rough in there and the flow is erratic, i stir the sand a little to get stuff in the water same as if a storm came through over a reef pushing waves through stirring up the muck... the zoas LOVE it... other times i kill everything down to just the return so its mildddd flow clear waters ,, thats actually probably the main phase of the tank run it light when its full lights, sometimes kick on a k4 to liven things up
sorry i like to ramble
