I agree with your thoughts but I have a question Except for a calcium reactor internal pH probe, why would you have interest in a pH probe. Except for opening a window, there is little you can do to modify pH so I have always thought of them as irrelevant.
I use it as a measure of stability more than anything. If it's giving the same range day after day then at least I know when glancing at the display that tank is on cruise control.

I'm merely doing a comparison for value added purpose. I guess it's like buying a car or other electronic gadgets. Most of the time, a lot of people don't even use or know how to use the features that come with it but they help justify forking over the $$$.

Well, I got some unfortunate news from Marine Depot. They will not be carrying the Vertex Cerebra, even though they are a Vertex distributor. I'm assuming this has something to do with their relationship with Neptune and the new Apex coming out. Oh well, Bulk Reef Supply is slowly taking its place.

We would like to provide some clarification. Our decision is not influenced by Neptune Systems nor any other company. We have always offered our customers products we trust and would use ourselves. We want to make sure our customers are happy with the products purchased from us.

Using a controller can be a fairly complicated and potentially frustrating experience. It is in a product category where we always test the products ourselves and to make sure the proper support is available before offering the products our customers. Unfortunately, we have not had the opportunity to evaluate the Cerebra.

As with the Digital Aquatics Archon, it is possible that we may offer the Cerebra in the future. It is a product we are keeping a close eye on and one we will continue to evaluate. However, at this extremely early stage for this new controller, we feel our decision is made in the best interest of our customers.

In others words they know the Cerebra is no competition for the apex and they cannot justify spending the money to train their staff on the product after seeing what it can do. Take it as a heads up haha

Hopefully we'll get a chance to play with one soon. Then perhaps we can give away the demo unit in a contest!

That is not what we are saying at all. Once we have an opportunity to take one of these units for a spin and put it through its paces, we may end up carrying it after all. That was the initial plan. We thought we would have already had one to evaluate by now. At the end of the day, we just want to be confident that our customers are getting quality aquarium gear at a fair price with the support to back it up.

Well, I can respect you're looking out for your customers. I myself as an informed consumer don't like choices made or taken away from me. I know what I'm getting into and the risks. But I get where you're coming from. Kudos for being upfront and honest. It goes a long way!

Thank you for your kind words. It would be wonderful if every shopper were so well-informed. It does put us in a tough and awkward position sometimes to not be the first to offer the latest technology to our customers. But we also want to make sure what we are selling works well, is built to last, is fairly priced, and backed with warranty & post-purchase support. The Cerebra may fit this criteria perfectly already. Hopefully once we've had a chance to tinker with it we can bring it aboard, which again, was the original plan.

I wonder what's going on?
I don't think some of the bigger companies like BRS and Marinedepot didn't wanted all the headaches with the Beta. And more importantly , the profit margin selling at a discounted rate to the consumer doesn't warrant carrying them until maybe the price reaches it maximum profit margin at MRSP.

BRS said they decided to wait for the non-beta version to sell it. At least that's what the rep told me.
I called and was told that they don't do pre-orders. They said they will list them for sale at the sale price, once they have them in stock.
