my tank gathers heat fast. it sits at 79-80 at night and bumbs back and forth between 80-82 in the day. i set the chiller to 78 but it will only hold that temp for about 30 seconds before the digital display changes back into the 80's. i hate that.
so let me ask this to you peeps with chillers, when you set your tank to 79 will it hold 79 for a while before changing back up to a higher temp? i think my chiller reads the temp of the water inside the chilling chamber so as soon as the chilling part turns off the warm incoming water just flushes it all out and thus i get the jump in the temp so fast. so does this mean that im pumping to fast or to slow for the chiller? its a Aqua-Chill from Coralife 1/6HP on a 60 gallon and 30 gallon sump. sump is half full so 15g and the main tank has a lot of rock but has a canopy
My reef tank hit 80 yesterday, and my FOWLR got up to 84!
My wife hates running the air conditioning, even when it's blistering hot outside. I don't give her too much grief, though, since she pays the electric bill.
I got my heater set up on my controller to come on when it goes below 76 and my chiller to come on when it goes above 78. So it always stays between there.
My house Ac is always set to 76. My tanks heater runs all the time and my tank has not gotten over 78degrees...it's time to upgrade to a bigger heater I LOVE LEDs. Lol
That dip was a large water change and my almost automated WC dumps where the probe is and both heaters are. Reminds me I should put that probe elsewhere.
Hey Nick... Question: How much is your electric bill when you keep your a/c on all the time ???
Last year, I ran the a/c during a hot month about 8 hours a day for the 30 days, and my bill was around $900 bucks. Cant afford to keep doing that. I will keep my chiller thank you
