The site will "log you out" if you're idle for a certain amount of time. But as soon as you refresh a page, the cookies saved on your computer will log you back in without requiring you to enter your password.

^^ shows you that we have enough people visiting to have a very busy forum.
Since the chatbox has been disabled from most of the pages except the Forum Index, I think people might be inclined to see the posts below on the page and post more. I know that I'd sometimes get distracted by the chatbox and wouldn't check any of the posts.

I suspect that if you were to see statistics from 6 months ago it would show a significantly higher participation rate from people on SoCaliReefs (again, nothing to do with the chat box; you are chasing red herring) You want to look for specific trends
A wise decision from a business perspective would be to track changes in the website (and/or its policies) that caused a reverse in the inflection point from steadily inclining to steadily declining.... and then reverse those changes.
People can be rather fickle when it comes to where/how they spend their free time. 'Tiss the business owner's burden to find a niche that makes the MAJORITY of people happy, rather than satisfying the needs of a small click.

I see that kenny responded to the above message on my other thread...(the spelling poke he made about click vs clique, gave it away. Funny how when you dont have a good answer, it is best to divert the subject to ANYTHING else)
I see the connection to the question that kenny raised on that thread to this thread, (i.e. what types of people or members are wabnted on this site). It must have been REETORICAL, as he closed the thread without waiting for a reply...
But the Answer to his quierry is simple...
As long as moderators act and respond based upon thier emotions and feelings, rather then the essence of fairness and upon established rules that apply equally to all parties, this site will go down hill, or just platow off, (plateau) at best.
The timing and historical data referred to in the above message will show and coincide with the changes in policies, along with the enforcement of rules without regards to jurisprudence..
This was shown over and over again back then, and continues today, with my 'buyer / seller feedback thread' being closed for no reason, other then kenny not wanting to allow me an opportunity to get my money back from an a-hole rip off artist. (some would say my thread was 'inflammatory'. I wolud present that any negative comments left in that forum would be inflammatory, as that is the anture of negative feedback, and the reason most would want to avoid and therefore make sure they conduct business fairly)
His (kenny's) actions clearly show, the type of users and members wanted / protected here, and that is those that rip people off, and those with AGENDAS, that offer information or help for a profit or benefit...
New users will view this site as a another bunch of good ole boys,, and thier clicks (int mispelled), and not use it as it is designed for fear of repercussions if they should mis-speak, speak out of turn, take an unfavorable position on an issue, etc...
You can add bells and whistles and games and radios and cover up the BS so it dont smell so bad, but ultimately, people are wiser than that...
If you build somethign people want, they will come...
This place was touted to be a better place then RC, by way of allowing a more open place to speak, without being subjected to rules that are made up to suit thier needs.
But, as soon as commercialism and profit, entered the picture, you were compelled to make it family freindly, that cut out a big chunck of your patronage.
The actions with regards to the taking of sides with respect to MAX and RAP, also eliminated some,, (maybe a lot, maybe a little), but some business was lost. (at least the amount of money you could raise from the fees collected in advertising from him alone)
And these bits and pieces of business thta you choose to dismiss, just to save face or not confront those that are making ther opinions RULES, will cost you...
I am not back, nor will I be back, other then to read what is new, and who is in drama today, or what is for sale, etc...
I just found this thread to be somwhat irresistable, as it is a pretty straight foreward issue.
Even Sears, and and Denny's cant afford to turn away business, and when they do, you can bet they dot thier I's and cross thier Tees to make sure they are consistant with every policy before they act...
And if they do exhile and or exclude some business, they dont lament about not having the customer base they hoped for...
