Well, for a little background on wrasses in general. They can be a very skiddish fish addition. Problems with getting them to eat are very common. Some wrasse are known for picking on crabs and snails. As far as other fish, they don't seem to be too bothered. It is a common notion that wrasse need sand to be happy and although it is true that they do use sand to hide in when spooked it is not nessessary for them to live in a habitat with sand. I have an adult radiant wrasse that I have had now for over a year and I don't have any sand in my aquarium.
I personally think they are one of my favorite fish. He is always swiming and always wants to be the center of attention. A couple words of caution about wrasses. If you are planing on buying one from a LFS, I would have them hold the fish for you and make sure it is eatting and has been there for a few weeks. Because they are skiddish and can stop eatting all of a sudden in the home aquarium, you want to make sure they are as healthy as they can be when you first bring them home and acclimate them to aquarium life.
