Can’t wait for my PNS shipment to arrive. Hurry up and grow everything out bro I want some Smite frags 😉
Nice, you'll see benefits from it too I'm sure. I just wish I ordered 2 of each, almost feel like I should put another order in now.

I'll try. Once I do I'll get you some nice ones bro.

I was tempted at Tong's yesterday, he's got 2 really nice tenuis in that middle 300g towards the back. Ones got the Angry Bird look to it. He get some real quality pieces in there. Wild tenuis are a gamble but I've got a few that are really starting to look promising that I got from there. Not to mention countless others too.

I’ve never been to Tongs I’ll have to stop by there one day.

Well I decided to pull the trigger on a pair of Quanta led bars. I'm missing that deep blue pop I had from the reefbrite strips. After talking with the owner I landed on the OG Pop spectrum. Sounds like it's got a very deep blue to it but not purple. Once they show up I'll post some pictures of the spectrum and the corals that I feel are currently lacking under all blue - kessil vs OG pop.

I'm undecided on whether I'll keep the kessils up or just run the bars. I really like the kessils but adding bars in, this set up could get ridiculous looking :ROFLMAO: My original purpose for the kessils was to add shimmer but I feel like I'm smoking everything in super high par even on the lowest setting when ran with the PM. This old school power module really throws out some PAR.

I think you’ll really like the Quanta bars, their coverage and spectrum blending are great!

I'll be really interested to see how you like these. Been thinking of adding some strips to my tank due to the width, and have been looking at the Orphek strips. Why did you decide to go with the Quanta led bars?

Larger aluminum housing for better cooling, 120 degree optics for better spread, more LEDs per foot so better blending at the same price point. It sounds like they put out great PAR as well.
Still a very new product but Luca seems like a good dude via email, so I'm guessing CS issues will be handled well.

I almost went direct to the herifi factory but shipping ended up being around $200 for 6 bars, $500 total which is still a killer price (I was going to build a panel). That put me around 50% of what it would cost to get bars from Quanta, but the spectrums aren't the same and the diode counts are less than Quanta, same as Orphek. No CS.

If it was Orphek vs those, I'd probably have rolled the dice on the Herifi bars. They did say they would put 120 degree optics in them at no cost and you can order custom spectrums/diodes.
EDIT: So you could basically order yourself an orphek spectrum (since they post their layout) with better spread. I pretty sure a beefier housing too, I haven't seen an OR3 in person.

I have the OR2's and the only difference between the 2's and 3's are the diodes. The 3's use 5w diodes at half the wattage. The 2's were using 3w diodes. I agree with Matt, if you want to go budget route and add a little bump in spectrum, then the factory direct bars or the AliE bars would work. But, if you want the best bang for your buck, then Quanta's are legit bars. They are so much better than my Orpheks and they out-perform my xho's & OR2's combined. The meso blue bars are packed with violet, so they have some extra punch. If you're considering Orpheks, then I would look at Quanta first. Luca is great and he'll direct you to the right bar based on your current lighting.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. How do they look aesthetically out of the tank (meaning, the look of the actual fixture)? I don't have a hood, so I would likely hang these along my current fixture and want a relatively clean look.

curious what you think of them once you get them

i think i'm settled on doing the t5 hybrid thing, but i was also really looking into these just for some supplemental blanket of light. i feel like i'd have more control over the t5 spectrum wise, but the leds would probably be so much easier..

Yeah that's what has me hesitant on going all bars. I love the spectrum and blanket of light from the t5. I'm hoping they release a quality video of what each bar looks like and with different combos to achieve "x" kelvin. Like what BRS originally did for ATI and their t5 lamps. That'd take some guess work out of it for sure. For now I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform together.

With just the meso blues on, they have a little deeper blue than ATI blue+ and the coverage is great. Just two bars cover my temp tank rather well, which is a Cadlights 125g 48x29

Dinos still linger but are much less than they were. It has me wondering if I need a new UV lamp or if I need to up my watts with my 18w in the garage.

Aside from those I'm starting to see some improvements in acropora coloration. Some of the frags I've added over the last few weeks are starting to encrust and have maintained color.

I think I could use five 4' bars over this tank and cover everything. Two meso blues, one OG pop in the middle and maybe one reef crest and one tropic sun or two reef crest. Depending on how "white" you like it? I would probably be happy with three meso blues and two reef crest. Maybe throw in a 360x or two for shimmer?
