if you get the new Evolution or the Magnum pumps from Hydor you can make them osculate. I have some that have been goingon fo 10 sec and then off for 30 sec for the last 2 years

you are throttling it back and that could be where the noise is coming from. you could try putting a bleed off and rout it back in to the sump, that way the pump is not being held back.

I run a Hammer Head and it is not as noisy but it is loud. I put mine in the garage..:) You could put some padding around where the pump is to muffle the sound a bit but dont restrict the air flow over the pump.

Currently have a 300 Gal Dt 8' x 24" x 30" tall. one day I would like to have a 10' x 30" x 30". I think that will happen one day in the future because me wife likes the reef tanks as well...:)

I agree with Shortcake, it is way to sensitive. Mike would have to charge Like $80 to just to cover the coast of colony.

I have a 300 gal DT with only 3 250 w MH running radium. My tanks is 30" tall and I have no problems with my lighting. I can tell you that I only run my light for 7 hours a day. I find that running my light less and have good water quality works.

ok, so why dont we mix this up a little. I propose that we have one SPS and one LPS and see what people can do with mixed corals. something a little different or hold 2 contests. I am game for this. the last SPS grow out challenge on reef central 2 years ago was fun.

Sorry but I disagree with getting rid of fish that have irritation. Keep the tang if you like having a yellow tang. there is something that is bothering him and that is causing him to try to get it off. try to find out what it is or your other fish will have that same problems. if one fish...

make sure that you do all this stuff slowly dont rush things it will make matter worse, you have enough information hear to get you back on track good luck
