I am still running PhosarHC. I am a little leary of taking it offline. GCarroll says to keep it online so I will continue to use it. Everything is going well so far. I am still experiencing a little bit of hazy light brown algae on the glass. Corals are starting to get more color as well. Keep your fingers crossed. :)
Interesting.....how much GFO are you using Brock & running it in a reactor?

Greg: can you chime in here & let us know how much GFO you're running?

Personally, I'm only running a tiny bit in a reactor & thinking about pulling it completely.

same here brock. I had my PO4 tested at .02 (hanna) & had some lightening of colors, so I pulled my reactor offline for a week & 1/2. At the same time I lowered some pieces & noticed improved colors. However, since I put the reactor back on-line, color has faded again, so Im attributing to GFO.

This time, Im gonna pull it for a good month & then have my buddy measure my PO4 again to make sure it doesnt rise during this time.

I've been feeding pretty heavy lately hoping for better colors but no dice. Im gonna change up my routine entirely. Im going to dose less, feed less & let the tank come down naturally, without trying to strip it with GFO. I'll report back.

Any updates from anyone? My tank is about the same. (Still getting the hazy film of algae on the glass). Now I am having CA alk issues. Cant keep the levels up for some reason. Maybe I will look into a different CA media.

I am cranking the Prodibio, 2 months now and PE is great, dosing reefbooster2x a week 1/2 a vial each time. AA's and KZ Coral Vitalizer and Sponge Power every night. Running Rowaphos and Carbon but have not seen any effects on my corals color wise from before or after.

Pulling the GFO wasnt such a good idea :( Had a little nutrient spkie & some borwn-outs. Back on the GFO & going back to dosing Prodibio weekly until I get my nutrient levels back down to where they were. Need to be more careful with the feeding. :embarassed:

Brock, you check ur Mag dude? U still using Red Sea Pro? I think it has low mag. I switched to Coralife & much easier mainting high levels of cal w/proportionate alk.

I was going to check mag today. Will update afterwards. And yes, still using Red Sea Pro.... I was just thinking about changing to a different salt this morning!! Looks like Marine Depot raied the prices too. I guess its getting popular so they raised the price for it :( Not sure which to use. Need to find something soon. I still run GFO, too scared to take it offline.

Damnn!!! I just chcked my Mg with the Elos kit and got to 12 drops. According to the directions that would equal 1200. Thats good right ? !!! Well, as I was putting the kit away, I noticed a sticker on the box and it says, New formula!! 1 drop = 75ppm. Therefore, my reading is actually 900 :(. I have been misreading my levels for months now. Time to start slowly raising the levels with Warner Marine Magnesium.

Good lookin out John!! No matter how much we THINK we know about this hobby, we always forget to check something. Thanks bro.

side note.. Checking the online calcultor, I would need over 64oz of WM Mag to increase my levels to 1200.. looks like its gonna be areal slow process.

You get your mag up Brock? If you need some mag flake LMK.

You could prob do it just as easy with some large WC's with high mag salts, like Coralife, Kent. LMK man :top:

John, I will be buying some Coralife Salt today anddoing my WC this weekend. Do you use 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup salt per gallon?

Steve, if you come by this weekend for the chaeto, bring some of the mag flake with you, if you can. I have never used it before so a lesson will be required. :)

Thank you both!!

Cool. The CL has just as much ca/alk as the RSCP so no real shock to the corals.

Im a little different man, I use 2-part so my salinity creeps up slowly with each ca dose. So I mix about 1/2c per gallon or less. If I didnt I'd use right around 3c per 5 gallons. I like to keep my SG high :D

OK... Thanks John. I will try 3/4cup per gallon and see what the levels are.
Thats gonna be TOO high man! 3c over 5 gallons is like 6/10th cup per gallon. Should be right around 1.025-6.

3/4c per gallon is like 3.75c per 5 gallons. SG's gonna be like 1.030!!!

Sure thing, I'll bring a freeze bag of mag flakes with me this weekend and let you know how much to mix in a gallon jug. There is a website calculator that'll let you know how much to put in to bring it up to a certain level. I'll give you the link when I get a chance.

none of the prodibo products require refrigeration. They are packed in nitrogen and effectively have an unlimited shelf life. Just shake the ampules and open.
