So after alot of thinking and shopping around i finally pulled the trigger for this tank. The tank dems are going to be 72x30x30 built by John from AA. I went with 2, one inch drains, and with euro bracing. He is also making my sump which is going to be 60x20x18. For the stand i chose to go with a metal one, which is going to be built by Travis. This tank is going to be in my " Man Cave" . for lighting am just going to keep my 62' cebu fixture, just going to change from 2x175 to 2x250 MH. Also going to keep my mp40, which i believe they will do the job. The only think am not sure of as of now is the return pump. Also another concern are the two corner overflow. Will they block the flow from the mp40?

Any questions or thoughts please feel free to ask or tell. Pics of the tank will be coming next week, and same with the stand. :proud:

Tank sounds awesome. Love going 30X30. Have you considered the angled corner overflows? Also, if you're going with euro-bracing, are you going to have them slightly recessed down? Like 1/8"? I wish I would have done this.

Good point Rob, recessed euro bracing. Thats what I have and it hides the screen top that I use.

Instead of the bracing being flush at the top with the side panels, it's dropped down about 1/8" so you don't drip water down the sides of the tank when you have your hands in and out.
oo so its like a small wall around the top, and like someone said it can cover my screen too.

so you think i should just stay with my 2x175 watt??
Although it can be difficult to decipher Sahn's posts... he is saying that even with 2x 250w mh's, you will not have a lot of light penetrating to the bottom of a 30" tall tank so you May want to think about 400w mh's or keep only very low light corals at the bottom of your tank. 175w would not be enough IMO

at the bottom i only plan on keeping chalices, acan, zos and things like that. so i think with the 2x250 i should be ok, but now i need to know how far off the sureface of the water should the light fixture be??

With a 30" tall tank, I'd go with 400's. Given that you're gonna be running 2 mh on a 6 foot tank, you're gonna need to raise them higher if you want to put corals on the bottom left and right side of your tank. But when you do that, you may not get the penetration you want.

i honestly dont want to run 2x400. i think my 2x250 and 4x80 t5 will do the job. just need to know how far off the surface of the water i should hang my lights. also whats a good strong but efficient pump.
